As some hitherto unknown water source erupted, the City of Gronpike flooded overnight, rapidly creating a new lake between the Northern reaches of The Rotheval Mountains and the branch of The Stokewater to the South-East of the City. Many of the townspeople drowned in their beds, and more were washed away by the sudden rush of water, swept out to the sea in a torrent of rubble and muddy water. By morning, the only building that could be seen above the surface of the new lake is The Gronpike Spire.
