Session 25: Bring back Reggie Report
General Summary
Our heroes start this session barely alive. Joe, Orion and James carry Hank's body to the cart. But they need to finish this.
They walk around the house torching it, setting fire to everything they see. They also need to torch the church, but as they leave the dwarven groundskeeper appears and turns into a fucking wereshark! Oh god. Joe goes down, James goes down, and Orion flees. All of them are bitten. He literally runs as far as he can, stopping some 10-15 miles outside of Pendle, heading back north.
A few hours pass and Joe awakens. James is dead dead. Joe manages to sneak out and legs it, also heading north. He eventually catches up with Orion and they long rest. After some debating, they decide the best course of action is to head back to Norcastle, bring Reggie and Hank back, then go back for James.
On route, Joe and Orion stop the von Brightwood family home. He's overjoyed that they burnt down the house. He offers them a beautiful warhammer called Banecrusher that used to belong to the Lochburns. They opt for 3,000gp for now and will return for the quest. He tells them that he cursed them - someone called Ol'Gan helped him
Back at Castle Ardinham, Reggie is revived, but Hank is not. Reggie's interaction with Tal'Atar leads him to believe that Hank's soul is trapped in The Abyss. Eek. However, Egoron introduces them to Bearbera, who is willing to travel with them for a bit.
The journey south is quick, but there's an awkward guard at the burnt down Lochburn manor. They fetch the guard captain, who helps them gets in, and also tells them that the girl they found hanged was the daughter of Sir Azer in Yarrin.
At the grounds of the house, James is revived by the cleric that travelled down from Norcastle with them. With nothing left to do here, they carry on their journey south. A gnome asks them where Pendle is when they rest.
In the morning, a yellow glow lights up the sky directly south. After half a day of travelling, refugees flood past them with cries of Yarrin burning and claims of a red dragon and a floating man. Picking up the pace, they arrive at the inferno that was Yarrin. Straight into battle against some odd firenewts and fire elementals, the fight seems to be under control.
Then, something odd happens. Life stops. The world stops spinning. And a cheer presence joins them. The Merry Man. He hands Joe a ring, gives the heroes a farewell and is gone. The fight continues, and the elemental is destroyed and Joe absorbs some of the fire.
We end the session on the afternoon of the 19th of Hirudo, in the middle of dealing with the fires of Yarrin.
