Session 63: Getting the Cloak Report

General Summary

Our heroes start with a conversation with Hamund McGeorge. They head to a private room to talk about the Madison problem. They come clean and he says he'll be in their debt if they can finish the problem once and for all. They ask for a green magic item, the bigger the better, and he agrees. They chat about the good ol' days and he tells some tales.
Then the thunderous noise starts... it's Thimbleshank & Scree!! They play through their popular songs and do not disappoint. Frank gets into the circle pit and jumps around. It's loud, there's pyro, and it absolutely rocks. The casino goes back to normal afterwards and the gang heads for the door. They don't win the bag of holding and Jovial tries buying it from a snooty old lady. It doesn't go well and he declines to buy it for 250gp.
Back at the tavern, Jovial heads to bed and the rest stay up. Hamund McGeorge storms in in a rage and blames them for stealing it. He calms a little and asks for their help - the cloak has gone! There's a small note, signed off with "GG". They go back with him to examine his room and find that the balcony door is open. Satisfied with the evidence, they leave to rest for the night.
In the morning Isabella casts Locate Object and it's in the town. It leads them to a small cottage on the outskirts. All the windows are closed and the door is locked, so they flank it. Jovial knocks, and a rugged elderly man answers. Jovial first claims they're a cloak tax agency and he's not interested. He then comes clean and with some good rolls he lets them in to talk... it's Gene Goldenthorn!!
He gives them the cloak back instantly and doesn't care for it. He just wanted Hamund to feel unsecure in his home. They talk for a while and he shows them the Dragon Compendium he's been coming up with. They tell him their struggle and he's beyond that fight now - he travels around setting his past right. If he's in Norcastle soon he'll pop in. He doesn't need his book anymore, so he gives it to the team.
We leave the session as they leave his cottage on the morning of the 16th Limax.
