Damh ("dav")

Damh (pronounced "dav," meaning "horned beast") is the fey deity of dance, song, and celebrations. His symbol is flutes, pipes, and a drum.

Damh appears as a male korred with long, tawny-auburn hair tied into braids. He carries a set of pipes, a wooden flute, and a harp. A physically powerful god, he may ambush hostile invaders into fairy lands. He is a very old deity.

A god of the Inner Circle of the Seelie Court, Damh is the son of Titania and Oberon.

Damh travels with the Seelie Court.

Damh loves merriment and festivities. He is fond of music and joke-telling. Hedonistic, he seldom delays an opportunity for self-gratification. His personality also has a more serious side. Damh is credited with helping to build the druid circles and has responsibilities as a guardian for the races he watches over.

Damh's main worshipers are korreds, satyrs, and atomies. According to Monster Mythology, Titania worries so much about the various sylvan races that Damh felt compelled to take over some of her responsibilities and, therefore, lighten her load. He protects his new charges among the other fey races as faithfully as he does his older ones.

Damh typically appeared as a male korred with tawny auburn hair tied back in braids that were decorated with gold filigree. He always carried a set of pipes, a wooden flute, and a harp with him.[2]

Damh was self-indulgent, never one to delay gratification; he loved song and dance, jesters and strong drink, and especially loved dryads. He was, however, also a very old deity and a guardian deity. He was earthy, with strong associations with rock and stone and the earth itself.[2]

Damh's avatars had many magical powers, and he was physically strong as well.[2]

Damh was a frequent participant in revels, but befitting his physical power he was also capable and willing to ambush hostile intruders into faerie lands.[2]

Damh was a very old deity who was said to have helped build the first druidic stone circles and standing stones. He took over as the patron of satyrs, korreds, and atomies to lighten Titania's responsibilities for the sundry species she watched and worried over.[2]

Damh is patron god of satyrs and their kindred korred, and also atomies. Titania worries about the many races that she watches over—so much so that Damh saw the need to lighten her responsibilities by taking over this concern, and he protects his new charges most faithfully.

Damh loves dancing, song, music, bardic verse, jesters, and strong drink. He especially loves dryads. He is very self-indulgent and will never postpone gratification. However, he has another side: Damh is a very old deity, and he is said to have helped build the first druidic stone circles and raised standing stones. He is certainly very friendly with druidic deities. Also, he is very earthy and has strong associations with stone, rock, and earth itself. He is a guardian too; while brownies often see the first incursions of unwanted guests, korred are often the first to intuitively sense this, especially magical intrusions.

Role-playing Notes: Damh's avatars are frequent participants in revels, especially if there are plenty of dryads about. But this is a physically strong god, and his avatars will certainly ambush and attack powerful hostile intruders into faerie lands.
