Escalade

Why bother to break down the walls of a castle when you can simply go over them? In renaissance times, the task of getting troops over the walls into the fortification was sometimes called “escalade.” Methods for scaling walls include ladders, grapples and siege towers. The standard BATTLESYSTEM miniatures rules (page 80) cover the use of ladders and grapples, and the consequences of trying to scale a defended wall. More details are necessary on siege towers, however.
