Session 10: Journey to the Mistmarsh
General Summary
The party escaped the mines and made directly for Allustan's residence. They found him worried sick, but relieved to see them all again.
Allustan had used the information from Nemara's thrall to have an attack on the compound ordered, but the garrison messenger reported that they had only routed some village troublemakers. For political reasons, Governor-Mayor Lanod Neff couldn't accuse his good and respected friend Garrison Commander Tollivar Trask of lying, and thought it more likely that the cultist was exaggerating his people's strength.
Allustan suspects that the garrison has been compromised. Either they never raided in the first place, or they performed some kind of fake ousting of harmless villagers.
The party contemplated other options, and determined they needed backup. They asked Allustan if there were any other resources he could use, and he recalled his friend Marzena, who is a battlemage stationed at Blackwall Keep. The party decided to seek her out and ask for her help.
Before heading out, Lins converted her injured brother to St. Cuthbert's clergy, and Sigvurd made friends with a knife-throwing bard named Peggan! Vin brought Nemara home and convinced her parents to visit her uncle in the Free City for a few days, worried about cult reprisal. Nemara made friends with the family dog, Helga.
The party rented some horses from the Able Carter and hit the road. They encountered a few merchants, and a herd of giant goats trampled their camping equipment. With three days and four nights still between them and the Keep, Lins began her watch, and saw something lurking in the shadows...
