Session 20: Versus the Doppelboss
General Summary
While Vin memorized the evidence, Lins paced the room. She discovered a secret passage, and soon the party was ready to see where it led. They followed the passage into the doppelgangers' true prison, which was empty. They searched the cells anyway, and found Carlos Jabbar (Vin's uncle)'s signet ring - they *had* been here after all!
The party moved on, and found themselves in a large room with a medical table equipped with restraints and a strange silver helmet, as well as a raised throne on a dais. In front of that throne stood the boss of the doppelgangers, holding Emiliana Jabbar (Vin's younger cousin) by her hair. He taunted the party, telling them to come and get her, and they did! A great battle ensued, wtih Vin briefly becoming a huge ape, Marta turning on the party, traps opening in the floor and ceiling, doppelgangers pouring in from behind them, and Nemara summoning a spirit of ultimate fear and panic to harry the enemy!
The last survivor of the enemy forces - a drow - fled into a small room behind the throne. The party pursued, but couldn't find the secret passage he ran through until the fleeing drow had accumulated a daunting lead. They decided to get Emiliana to safety before pressing on in search of the other captives, and sent Kirin, the one true guard, to escort her to Diamond Lake, into the care of Allustan. Meanwhile, below the warehouse, Sigvurd sharpened his axe and Nemara scoured her grimoire, both knowing their battles were far from over.
Timeline
13th of Wealsun, 595 CY
- 2:00 PM: Lins discovers a secret door leading further into the dungeon.
- 2:15 PM: The party face off against the boss of the doppelgangers and rescues Emiliana Jabbar.
- 2:45 PM: The party gives up pursuit of the fleeing drow and decides to send Emiliana to Allustan in Kirin's care. Vin and Lins escort them to a coach-station.
