General Summary
Zeke had been recognized as a member of the criminal party, but he dashed toward Raknian before they could try to grab him. Zeke grappled the arena master, and Vin called for the party to let her cast Fly, so they could escape. Zeke and Nemara dashed closer, but Sigvurd and Lins dropped their weapons, surrendering as the guard captain appeared and called for them to stand down.
Vin and Zeke took off into the night sky, dodging arrows with Raknian in hand. Nemara strained to follow, but was held in place by a paralyzing spell. She, along with Lins and Sigvurd, was escorted to a holding cell.
Elsewhere in the night, Vin and Zeke ruthlessly interrogated Raknian, bartering for his help in acquitting their friends even as they tormented him for the heinous acts he had taken against themselves and their loved ones.
As they fell asleep awaiting the dawn, the party tried to comfort themselves. None of their party had been killed, and between Vin's memorizing the evidence unde the Sodden Hold, Eligos the Sage corroborating the purpose of the scrolls Raknian bought, and the ulgurstasta's corpse, they held a faint hope the Justice of Greyhawk might find their violence justified...
Interrogation Notes
Thanks, Kevin, for writing it down!
What do you know of the apostolic scrolls?
He got them from Zyrxog, they contained a ritual to summon a dread creature, and were important to the Ebon Triad.
Who did the ritual to summon the Ulgurstasta?
Bozal Zahol, the tiefling cleric carried out the ritual to summon the Ulgurstasta.
What is your connection to the Ebon Triad?
Raknian said he was affiliated as a new convert. He was in a tough situation and came to be in their debt after appealing to a friend of his named Theldrick, who was already a member of some rank. They said to convert as part of his debt.
Who is Theldrick?
A priest of Hextor from the Shield Lands, fell out of favour, possibly after a failed coup, and joined up with the Ebon Triad. He's been linked to a small town (Diamond Lake) known for mining.
Why did you take a hit out on the party?
He was told to as an initiation to the Ebon Triad - given our names by Theldrick, then took out a hit by way of Zyrxog.
Where does the Ebon Triad operate from?
Everywhere - they have secret cells, are loosely organized but with a broad reach.
Where is the evidence that could convict you?
The body of Lahaka (murdered) - which we know is a zombie currently Bozal (dead) would know things
Zyrxog's ledgers showing he paid for a hit on the party and an unholy artifact (the apostolic scrolls)
Orokal (?) might have evidence
What other evidence exists?
Apostolic Scrolls themselves and the Ulgurstasta under the arena he owns
What dirt do you have on Orokal that would convince him to testify against you?
His involvement at a more-than-grunt level with the Thieves' Guild, has done a good number of crimes
Will you help exonerate our friends if we advocate for you?
Under duress, he said yes, he would, since if he disagreed Vin and Zeke would certainly kill him.
