Hamou Ukaiou (Hah-moo Ooh-kay-ooh)

The efreet known as Hamou Ukaiou was once a pasha of some influence in the City of Brass on the Plan of Fire. Upon challenging one of the ruling sultans however, he was defeated and nearly slain. The sultans wished to punish Hamou Ukaiou as an example to others who might harbor similar ambitions. In a their cruelty, they delivered him to a place with no light or heat, into the custody of the shadow dragon Umbrasomnium. Far beneath the roots of the Black Willowshade in the Shadowfell, Umbrasomnium crafted a demiplane to serve as the efreet's prison. This prison would hold a brass door back to the Plane of Fire, which could never be opened by any means, and which would serve as a tantalizingly close reminder of all Hamou Ukaiou had lost. Every night, shadows would pour from his urn like an unstoppable tide of darkness. The demiplane would be plunged back into the cold and darkness of the Shadowfell, leaving the efreet in abject misery until the tide receeded on the following morn.
Over the centuries, this subtle torture began to exact a toll. Hamou Ukaiou recalled himself as a sultan whose rivals had turned against him rather than merely a pasha with large ambitions. Plans for vengeance consumed him as he stared at the brass door day in and day out. Cunning though he was, Hamou Ukaiou's desperation grew until the day that he found someone standing unexpectedly and calmly in his demiplane prison. In exchange for a pact of obedience and servitude to the figure, Hamou Ukaiou was given two women that his new master assured him would lure adventurers to his lair. The first was a soul that had recently been adrift in the Shadowfell. The other was a member of the party of adventurers he was to lure. He was to force them into making a bargain for one of the women, and trick them into destroying the urn that served as the key to his prison. Once free, he could do as he wished so long as he always answered the call of his new master.
Though they nearly slew him in the process, the Red Badges obliged Hamou Ukaiou's desire for freedom, though he was not able to trick them into a bargain for the women. Now freed from his demiplane, Hamou Ukaiou's current whereabouts are unknown.

Physical Description

Body Features

Hamou Ukaiou is a 14' tall efreet with smooth charcoal skined veined with glowing red lines like trails of lava across a field of obsidian. He is perpetually wreathed in incadescent flames, particularly around his hands and feet which glow yellow-white with heat.

Family Ties

Hamou Ukaiou is said to have a wife as equally viscious and vengeful as he. She is called Aicha Kandida in ancient texts, but it is unknown if she is real or simply another manifestation of Hamou Ukaiou.
