Piety Fire
Despite having a similar name, Piety Fire isn't at all like a fire made to worship gods. Instead, it is the power within Balwen to be used as magic. You see, since Balwens have two states of being--Angelic form and bestial form, their magic is attuned to such. Normally a Balwen will spend their younger years trying to figure out who they are and the extent of their powers. In the end, the source is not only their higher being of belief, such as a god, but also their emotions.
Manifestation
While Balwen are normally peaceful creatures, their magic aids them mainly when provoked. Their halos can turn into a weapon specified to match the Balwen, such as the halo turning into a sword or hammer. From there they channel their religious vows and prayers through the weapon, able to sacrifice their belief to normally cause status effects, while occasionally to rarely doing more. When pushed past this limit, when their heart aches for more, emotions instead cloud the mind and force a transformation upon them, losing their halo and wings to don a monstrous body, tending to resemble human folklore and mythological creatures. From there, their status effect ability instead turns into pure concentrated magic and spells, such as being able to reflect an attack or completely dashing at unique speeds. Of course, all this takes a toll. If they use their weapon to wield their beliefs too much, their god or goddess will not heed their call, and their halo will not transform. If they fall into transforming, their memory starts to deteriorate, making them more-so a husk of what could have been someone better.
Localization
Most if not all Balwen have this source of magic, seeming to be granted to them upon reincarnation as a Balwen. Those that are reincarnated into a Balwen either completely forget their past life and magic source, or retain a tiny bit which can be shown in their spells.
