City of Gods

This hidden Islander city goes by many names. It is a religious and cultural center, considered the most sacred place on Earth by those of Islander descent.

Demographics

The city is a strange city because it is made up primarily of pilgrims and caretakers of Ohakana and Lohai. It is almost all Islanders, but the occasional Monomak can be found as well. The wealth changes widely from person to person, but in the K'hili Nation the only wealthy Islanders are traitors and turncoats, not the sort of person allowed to live in the most sacred city of all.

Government

The Weavers, who owe that name to the previous generations who could manipulate Life Threads, are the sort of priests or caretakers of the deities. They make up a government force that maintains their scholarly ways and instructs the citizens in how to act. This is the center of the K'hili Nation, so when the government convenes, the elders of each island meet with Weavers watching over.

Defences

The city is hidden among the reeds. The only way to access it is to use a small easily maneuverable boat (like an ilirok) to weave your way through the reeds. Everything floats and is not anchored to anything, so the entire city can flee with their buildings roped behind their ships.

Industry & Trade

Most of the citizens of the City of Gods make their income from the pilgrims or the Temple. However, fishing is quite a popular profession as well, just not as feasible as owning an inn or selling depictions of Ohakana.

Infrastructure

All the houses are woven of reeds and float along the marshy water, invisible to an outsider in the sea of reeds. As is traditionally sacred, things are constructed to be circular or spherical, and can be moved at a moment's notice. In the center of the marsh, there are candles floating in the water, held up by small woven spheres. These serve as lanterns and each represents a prayer to the gods. The caretakers of the gods, the Weavers, have a huge floating temple made of woven reed spheres which can be tugged along by a dozen ilirok if the area is invaded.

Assets

All the gold that the K'hili government did not loose in the annexation is stored at the old center of the City of Gods. The city has moved since, but the gold is stored in the same spot, a small dry island in the marsh.

Guilds and Factions

The Weavers, or the priests, have a significant power in local and national affairs. They are mostly scholars and used to consist of fighters as well and magic-users. However, all of the fighters and true Weavers went off to fight in the annexation, while the scholars and the Weavers unable to tap into their power were left behind.   The local Councils are a huge force. They are elders from many different islands, and although they do not actually vote on the affairs of the K'hili Nation unless it is a matter of national emergency, they represent their islands and have enormous bargaining power.

Geography

This area is a marsh with occasional dry islands, but is mostly just a sea of reeds. On one side of the reeds is an actual island and the other edges just taper off into the open sea.
