Bird School

Episode 1 of Potha

Potha has begun her training as a Meako in the Minosa Forest Ranger School, where the greatest Meako of all tribes comingle and train to better serve their communities and the island.   Potha comes from the Eastern reaches, specifically the Sarana tribe of the Keamara - but has encountered bullying for her Chorical species and association with unpopular Prism student Amoa.   Now Potha has been confronted with Akata, a high-status student and part-time bully from Huaka that has become her rival.   Will Potha befriend Akata? Will they remain enemies? What about Potha's childhood friend, Eora, who seems to have much less sympathy for the Akata? Can peace be found in the land of birds, or is it only war? Can Love Bloom On the Battlefield?   To complicate matters, the Demigod Haru has arrived in disguise as a school administrator- what whacky hijinks will ensue? How will this line up at all with fighting the Apocalypse?   Be Gay Fight Imperialism

    Allies

Eora: Daughter of the Priestess of the Sarana tribe, Eora is a charismatic beacon of joy (if a little unused to being outranked by someone). Very attached to Potha and aware of her nature as Halycon incarnate. Has a toxic rivalry with Akata. Member of Rabbit House     Amoa: Prism from the Umaroa tribe of the Sarasuko group in Northern Loanua, Amoa is a rare example of a Prism training to be a Meako. Shy and gentle, Amoa has a natural talent befriending animals and is quick to learn even as she falls behind in skills such as hunting or swordplay. Member of Rabbit House

    Competitors

Akata: A daughter of a Meako officer in the Western military state of Huaka, Akata is the model girl of the Huakan military elite. Firm and by the book, Akata was raised in a strict military household and naturally assumes positions of leadership over other kids. Something of a bully towards kids she thinks are outsiders, she has slowly been adjusting to a more mixed Loanuan space.  Member of House Eagle.
