Isethra Tree
The Isethra Tree is an enormous maple tree, planted by the Goddess Halcyon herself thousands of years ago. It rises 400 feet in the air above the rest of the surrounding pines and maples, a true landmark of the region. Crystal clear water flows eternally from a hole in its trunk into a pond at its base. The floor of the pond has becomes a wall of roots that keep the water from sinking into the soil and create excess water for attendants to dutifully harvest in painted clay pots.
The water of the Isethra tree is a magical, sacred thing, a gift from Halcyon to all mortals who suffer from disease or injury. Its water perfectly heals any mortal who drinks from it from any ailment, even diseases that are ordinarily incurable. Even victims of advanced Gem Plague, who normally suffer from permanent body even damage if the disease is cured, can return to a totally healed body from drinking here.
After a mortal drinks from the Isethra, they can never be cured by its waters again.
The tree, pond, and water are guarded by the Immortal Bobito and his Rangers of the Blessed Wood.
History
The Isethra has been fought over many times in history, but it has never been taken from its guardian, Bobito the Immortal. Over time, states have shifted away from fighting over the tree itself to fighting over the river; control of the river means control of the pilgrimmages and the river trade attracted to the Isethra, and one can fight over the river without attracting Bobito's ire.
Priests and cultists have long lived around the tree, and many who cannot pay for access promise a lifetime of servitude to the Healing cult in exchange for some of the healing water.
Tourism
The Isethra tree is a site of pilgrimage for those afflicted by mysterious ailments (or Gem Plague ) around the world. It is located rather inconveniently in the freezing forests of Ibith, nearby the River Kemla.
