Tlakra

To be a Tlakra is to be possessed by the soul of a people. It is the be the vessel for the Republic: the highest king and the lowest servant. It is a political position infused with religious significance and responsibility within the Suneka and can best be understood as a theocratic president of sorts.    What a Tlakra fully entails can vary from republic to republic, of course. While the standard is a five year term limit, some Tlakras rule for longer (such as that of Akatlan ) or even for life. Sunekan monarchies even use the title for their unelected leaders, though every such monarchy must dance a fine line to be accepted into the religious fold.

Qualifications

Must be of Sunekan custom and declared free of amorality by an Elder Priest to be accepted as a nominee

Appointment

The Tlakra is chosen by popular (or mostly popular) vote, but is officially crowned by the Aziletzen (state priest) in a special ceremony to be inducted in.

Duties

The Tlakra is the chief executive of a Sunekan Republic. They appoint generals, manage diplomacy, and appoint the chief bureaucrats known as the Guardian Council.

Accoutrements & Equipment

Tlakra typically are given costumes that represent the state they have been elected to rule, as well as their 'Ordainment': a heavy jeweled necklace bearing a small coin for each province that cast their vote for them.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

If found guilty of a crime, the assembly can vote to remove the Tlakra from office. The Guardian Council can also vote to remove and replace the Tlakra in an emergency "incompetence vote" if the Tlakra is found to be failing in their position. The State priest can initiate a vote of removal in either chamber at will if they find the Tlakra failing to act by the Suneka.
