Swiftways

Swiftways are a transportation method available in the larger cities on Thrail and especially in Nelevar. They consist of a network of stations (called nodes) each usually operated by a "Swifter". Utilizing Quintessence, another node in the network can be connected to and create a pocket dimension linking the two nodes. This dimension is a tunnel that creates a straight line from one node to another. It is still connected the original plane of creation and allows its inhabitants to see a blurry version of the world as they travel their private plane. Many have spatial manipulation capabilities to shorten the distance and time necessary to travel. As they are expensive, they are often maintained by a city and charge per use. There is a capacity to the maximum space that can be created between any two nodes as well as a shared capcity across the network. The capacity limits distances for practical use to those within a city's limits.
