Zellium Refining

Zellium Refining is the process of extracting quintessence from zellium.
Zellium is transported to a refinery in liquid form which is more stable and condensed; gaseous Zellium is prone to combustion. To keep in in liquid form, Zellium must be cooled, often by means of some combination of ice spells and insulation. Once inside the refinery, liquid Zellium is piped into a specialized aryiglass chamber where it is heated into its gaseous form. Two different enchanted metals are then introduced to opposite side of the chamber, reacting with the Zellium inside. This causes a rapid and violent reaction that creates a large amount of lightning and quintessence, this has led to its nickname as a "lightning chamber". The chamber is responsible for dissapating the blast of energy safely and capturing the quintessence. The reaction process rarely consumes all the zellium or captures all the produced quintessence; different metals and chamber designs have a large effect on the efficiency of the process. Partially reacted zellium and other residue from the reaction are often dumped in the river or sewer system.
