Sato Sochi
Sato Sochi is the Symnic of Ik'Umri, a small kingdom surrounded by larger and more powerful Amkus as well as the warmongering Wolgast to the south. Sato is a half-Opixan of Naadi descent who is short in stature and temper. They have a large but undecorated crest made up of feathers that consist of various mixtures of blue and green. Sato is very young for a Symnic, being in their early twenties, and only recently came to power after their father's untimely death, the circumstances of which are unknown. It is assumed that his death was of his own creation, given his worsening mental state and lingering insanity. Sato's lineage comes from that of great priests and communicators with the divine, known in Almor as Ratars, with each member of the Sochi lineage having some innate ability to speak with the divine, interpret their messages, and call upon them for aid. This has led Ik'Umri to become more of a theocratic nation, with a strong presence of Dhunya Amarish temples and places of worship due to the tendency of the ruler to also be the high priest. Sato is no different, as they have been plagued with messages from Zihet, Zahar, and other deities since the age of six.
Sato is a mysterious individual. The strong religious order of Ik'Umri leaves little time for Sato to spend time in other ways, instead being forced to commit much of their life to the religious rites and governmental overview. This is only worsened by the threat of invasion from the Wolgast Sym and worsening arcane storms centering around ancient religious sites in Ik'Umri. What is known about Sato is mostly speculation, though many of those close to them say they are kind, open-minded, and thoughtful, but they are often too busy or distraught by their visions and encroaching madness to truly put much of their natural wisdom and empathy to use as a ruler. Rumor spreads that Sato's visions and contact with the gods is becoming more frequent, volatile, and distressing.
