The Ryhai Sy'n

The Ryhai Sy'n are individuals whose lineage can be traced back to those who were directly touched by the arcane energy released by the wellspring. Regardless of species or race, these individuals can all be traced back to a select group who were lucky enough to have their ethereal souls grasped by the arcana of the wellspring. At first glance, they look as ordinary as any other member of their respective race, but closer inspection highlights some key differences. They are often taller and spindlier than other members of their race and tend to have longer than average arms. Their skin often shines with an under-glow of green, orange, or purple depending on which of the arcane strands their ancestors were affected by. Their eyes are often gray or black with abnormally shaped pupils, often in abstract and indescribable patterns. Their hair matches their under-glow, with every Ryhai Sy'n's hair being a shade of green, orange, or purple.

The Ryhai Sy'n are adept in magic and arcana and tend to take up professions that allow them to utilize their unique magical qualities. Many join local mage guilds and colleges while others sell their work as mercenaries or spellswords. Most, however, join the Cael Gafael, an order of Ryhai Sy'n that is devoted to researching the effects of the wellspring and using the magic it left in Halth'aire to create and design new innovations and technology.

Magical Abilities:
The Ryhai Sy'n are born with innate magical powers granted to them by their lineage's connection to the wellspring. Many of the greatest sorcerers and mystics, such as Horatius the Blind and Umbar Goldengown, were Ryhai Sy'n. Their magic tends to be stronger and can be channeled without an external arcane focus.

A Tragic Fate:
The Ryhai Sy'n are not without their faults. The arcane energy imbued within their souls is often untamed and dangerous. Bursts of wild magic are common and often detrimental to The Ryhai Sy'n or those around them. Many wear jewelry or nullifying garbs that dampen their magical powers but also dampen and damage the soul in the process. These garbs, Hydari, cause the magic in the soul to be weaker when worn, leading to the soul itself being dampened by the clothing. This often leads to insanity and sociopathy as the souls of the Ryhai Sy'n are tampered with.
