Pool of Vark
The Pool of Vark is the sea separating the two continents of Gardemoor and Vark. It connects to the Storm in the north, which creates extreme southward surface currents. Traversal is considered dangerous, if not impossible if one strays too far from shore. When the current eventually reaches the Spark of the Archon, it splits, continuing with its strong southward current, and turning east where it changes into a deep water current.
While the strong currents makes east-to-west travel unfeasible, west-to-east travel has happened at least once. At one point early in the GE, a massive fleet carrying thousands of humans and some-hundred elves calling themselves Karalians came to the Archonate from Vark. Claiming to be refugees of war, they were given land in what is today the districts of Karalianborg and Rayaz, in trade for their ships.
As the unchallenged masters of the seas, priestesses of Our Church Below the Sea have been known to ride the current from Gardelinden to Straussia in tiny sailing dinghies.
