Session 1: The Story So Far

You have been recruited, willingly or otherwise, into the ranks of the Gilded Iron. What brought you to this secretive adventuring group is as different to your companions origins as you yourself are to them. What binds you together though, albeit loosely, is that each of you have chosen to remain and make your membership official. Your reasons are your own. Your motives your own. What you choose to share with your compatriots is yours to decide....   This is your first mission...test...adventure, you're not quite sure what they are, really. But this is the first. Success in this task solidifies your belonging to team.   The expedition is headed by Gotrek Gurnisson and his comrade Felix Jaeger. The duo, from what you have gathered, are quite accomplished and often adventure just as a pair. This time however, they have conceded to the Lord Commander Jorca Moran 's wishes and are bringing the rest of you along for your initiation.   Gotrek is gruff and does not take well to questioning, but Felix the poet has entertained your parties inquiries and you have learned that this quest was sparked by a chance meeting between Gotrek and an old dwarf prospector named Faragrim who was working at an inn. According to Faragrim, he had taken a party to Karak Eight Peaks in an attempt to recover at least part of the vast lost hold of treasures there, but all were slain except him. Orcs were mentioned of course, and scurrying ratmen were more than hinted at. [DC15 - ask me] Gotrek intends to lead this party into Karak Eight Peaks and follow the steps of Faragrim to recover this immense treasure horde.   From the home base of Caer Ferric, which is situated at the utmost end of Averland nestled in an easy-to-miss hollow where the world's edge mountains meet the black mountains, your party has travelled south and slightly east for several weeks into the Eastern Badlands. Though there has been rustling in the night at the edge of forests, and tracks of hunting parties, your group has remained mostly unmolested by the dangers on the road.   Your party approaches the mountains, now. it's peaks and valleys are not the only dangers when you delve into the wilds...
