Scatter
Some ammunition, such as a flask of oil , will scatter if the attack roll misses.
Short range misses are typically scatter 1D6 squares away from the target. Long range misses typically scatter 2D6 squares.
To determine the direction of the scatter, roll D8 for each space. A result of 1 is N, 2 is NE, and so on around the clock. A scatter may land in the square occupied by a different creature, perhaps even an ally. It is even possible for a two-space scatter to scatter 1 square N and 1 square S, ending back in the original target square.
