Mortlaid Plague

The Mortlaid Plague was a pandemic that struck the Tightish Ilses in the 34th century BE.
Not only did it greatly decimated the population to an apocalyptic extent, with those few who survived struggling to fulfil their most basic needs.

Manifestation

The symptoms of Mortlaid are typcally described to be high fever, polka-dotted mortification, nausia as well as a loss of appetite and increased susceptability to fright.
Effects on the populace were much greater hough, with the malady spreading with great haste and attacking the most densely populated settlements of the lands.
What little places of fortitude still existed from the time before the loss of the Heol-Bri lost all sanity alltogether, and it was almost as if mankind had returned to its barbaric start.
Unlike as one might expect, the disease did not leave for many years, returning in waves to cull the herd, as it would seem, once again.
All the lands that were shaped by civilisation were lain to ruin and fell into disrepair, with nature and its denizens slowly reconquering the land it had lost

Recovery

Marrer Owendolyn was the one who freed the lands from this curse, studying ancient scriptures and reveiling new thoughts on the plague and its mysterious ways.
She traveled far to Carredin, where Penchester now lies, and there set about creating powerful concuctions and teaching travellers-by of how to protect themselves.
The news of this wonderous healer traveled with almost the speed n which the plague had, and the desperate and the needy flocked to her for advice.
It was then that the plague began to falter and the people began to prosper once again, and she was made the first Marrer when her head arose from the Stone of Aithgain.
