Seqhad

Bariyan settlement at the edge of the Storm Flats, serving as the prime hub for most bariyans. Seqhad lies in between the two massive cliff sides of the Ruined Wall. The city is ruled by Warda Nassir, the Trade Prince of works of art & Antiques. Seqhad is an ancient settlement, one of the oldest in Haven, older than even Al Jafer. Warda is ancient himself, remembering a time when there were still gnomish gods. Warda is a historian, and protects Seqhad with his many well-trained Spirit Guards; spectral ancestral warriors who have sworn to protect the city millennia ago, and still do so   Seqhad is all about ancestry and legacy. The city’s ancient structure are linked to powerful spirit magic. Gnomes and their animal companions living here have a strong bond with the past and their family heritage. Many of its inhabitants are able to summon a manifestation of their ancestors, which can often be seen accompanying them in their daily lives, hovering above the ground in a thin blue ethereal appearance.   Seqhad is home to many architects and scholars, often traveling through the Straits to dig up more of the regions’ past. Recently, Qurio was discovered, which Warda has been focusing on greatly. When the upside-down city was discovered, Warda sent settlers to what is now known as Birpud in order to excavate the place and unravel its mysteries. Many adventurers come to Seqhad to find the location of ancient artefacts and burial grounds. A select few come to commune with the ancient spirits of Seqhad, hoping to forge an ancestral connection of their own. There is a strict policy within the city to keep the existing architecture of the city untouched, as it is believed that the city itself allows the ancestors to manifest in their spirit forms.   Ziggurat Palace: seat of the council, caliph. Largest of the 3 ziggurats in the city   The Yellow Queen: Ancient bar/ tavern. Owned by a Bariyan gnome and his ghost rat companion.   Ziggurat Gardens: Second largest ziggurat. Place of great importance to the city. Magic kept the ground in the ziggurat fertile, making it one of the only places in the Straits that contains plant life. Source of food and trade for the city   Ziggurat Ruins: the 3rd and smallest ziggurat. It lies in ruins and is deemed to be cursed. Criminal ancestral spirits are said to gather to it. Lies in an abandoned part of the town.
