Canadian Royal Enterprises
At CRE, we take great pride in being everything that Hegemony International is not.

C
anadian Royal Enterprises (CRE) is the largest corporation in
Canadia, and one of the largest in the world. It's led by its CEO, Carlotta Duarte. Although no corporation can match the sheer size, scope, and profitability of Hegemony International, CRE comes closer than any other organization to truly competing with Hegemony. They provide comparable goods-and-services in nearly half of Hegemony's verticals.
Superior
CRE's offerings are generally acknowledged to be better, cheaper, and more reliable than similar offerings from
Hegemony. (Or to put it another way... they are usually deemed to be superior by those who are not already beholden to Hegemony.) It is this competitive tension that has led to a longstanding rivalry (and outright hostility) between CRE and Hegemony.
Roots
Although CRE is, ostensibly, an independent corporate entity, their primary shareholder is the
Canadian government itself. Decades ago, the Canadian implemented a policy whereby all Canadian citizens are granted a block of CRE stock upon birth. Those shares can first be sold when a Canadian citizen reaches 25 years of age - although most hold onto their shares for life, bequeathing them to their heirs, and even buying more throughout their lifetime if they have the means. This has fostered a situation whereby most Canadians loathe Hegemony International and will outright refuse to do business with Hegemony on any grounds. This "soft ban" has been bolstered by outright legal blockades from the Canadian government, stemming from a stream of corruption charges that have been levied against Hegemony International.
