Hegemony International. She is the closest confidant of Dontae Shukara and she is one of his direct reports.

orinne is surprisingly strong for her size and keeps herself in generally excellent shape. Her leisure activities are often physical in nature - hiking, rock climbing, scuba diving, jui-jitsu, etc. - and those activities keep her exceedingly fit.

er affinity for baggy clothing belies her shapely features. In those rare occasions where she cares to don skirts, dresses, or other traditionally-female accoutrements, people are often shocked by her womanly nature.

hile Corinne appears to be of Mediterranean descent, she was given up for adoption at birth and raised by a family of French heritage. She met Dontae Shukara in the third grade and they've been close friends ever since. Her adoptive family cared for her well, but both of her parents were distant and withdrawn. As actuaries who both worked for Berkshire Hathaway, they never knew quite what to do with her inquisitive mind and her ease in social situations. After graduating from college, she was reunited with Dontae when they both applied, and were accepted to, Hegemony's plebe program.

orinne is extremely attractive but she's always been hesitant to pursue any type of sexual or romantic relationships. The distant nature of her parents has left her reticent to form emotional bonds. She greatly prefers to spend her free time either pursuing her own interests or hanging out with Dontae in a purely platonic context.

She is presumably bisexual, having expressed general attraction to men and women, but she's never been in a lesbian relationship. Dontae frequently encourages her to be more aggressive regarding her romantic interests, but she tends to dismiss such suggestions. orinne graduated with a bachelor's degree in English from Florida State University. She's not particularly proud of her major or her alma mater, having had scholarship offers from more prestigious schools in more lucrative fields. Her inability to focus on any single discipline led her to procrastinate endlessly when it was time to apply to universities and choose a major. After Dontae was accepted at Stanford, she eventually enrolled at FSU, fearing that if she waited any longer she would simply forgo higher education altogether.

Although she "only" has an English degree, her college years were marked by a series of independent research initiatives. When she was bored she would often audit courses merely to absorb the information on some topic of interest to her. She didn't much care whether she ever received formal credit for the classes. She just wanted the knowledge. Aside from her core curriculum, she kept herself constantly occupied in a stream of academic clubs and internships.
Employment
egemony International is Corinne's first "real" job, although she's done temp gigs and internships for several other companies in various industries. She applied to the plebe program at the same time as Dontae after he received his master's degree.

he is occasionally self-conscious over her own lack of focus. While she's always been perceived as a solid performer, she has a difficult time feigning interest in her work when she becomes enthralled with new projects.

This should not be mistaken as her agreeing with company dogma. Nor does she have any particular loyalty to the organization. Rather, she views Hegemony's myriad idiosynchrasies as a puzzle box to be solved and explored.
Puzzle Solver
While she has a strong moral compass, and has no problem recognizing many of the problematic practices that she sees playing out around her, her first instinct is not to fight against those practices - but rather, to dive deeper into them as her own type of "research project".
She's also keenly fascinated to learn what makes people "tick". She will occasionally coordinate with - and even befriend - those who would seem to share none of her ideals if she feels it will allow her to get into their heads.

She correctly understands that, while Dontae is no idiot, he can also be frightfully naive. Throughout their youth, he often found himself in situations where people were taking advantage of him - and she was the only one who seemed to understand the dynamic. It's no exaggeration to say that she's served as a steadying compass during his more trying and formulative periods.
At times, this connection has caused her to flounder when the two are separated. She sees herself as fiercely independent. And for the most part, she is. But when he went across the country to study at Stanford, she found it difficult to commit to any given university, course of study, or career in his absence. When she learned that he was applying for the plebe program at Hegemony International, she quickly followed suit and joined him.

Apart from her connection to Dontae, Corinne can sometimes see herself in grandiose terms. While she presents as very "down to earth", she's capable of crafting ornate plans that will ultimately give people what they deserve. But to casual observers, these plans are almost entirely obfuscated. In fact, some believe that she's no better than those with whom she interacts. This perception occurs because she's happy to align herself (outwardly) with questionable characters if she believes it will ultimately lead to their comeuppance.

ontae Shukara is, hands down, her closest confidant. Although she has dozens of cordial acquaintances, he's the only person that she considers to be a true friend. More accurately, Dontae and Corinne have always considered each other to be siblings.
"Siblings"
The affectionate ties between her and Dontae lead many to believe that they are romantically involved. But neither of them has any such desires. They have the type of intimate bond that is reserved for family. As such, neither has any sexual interest in the other. Nevertheless, rumors of their romantic entanglement crop up frequently.

he has no formal family to speak of. Her father passed away when she was 10 and her mother followed him 6 years later. As first-generation immigrants, her parents had no extended family in the U.S. and Corinne does not maintain ties with any of their remaining relatives overseas. She considers Dontae to be her only real family now.

orinne has spent a great deal of time studying most major religions. As in other areas of her life, this "research" was not conducted as a means to truly believe what she was studying. Instead, she was more interested in understanding the motivations of those with a religious mindset. Zealots are often annoyed and intimidated by her because she can usually tell them more about their own sacred texts than they can. Despite this deep well of spiritual knowledge, she's firmly agnostic.

orinne is comfortable in group settings and very personable. She has a keen sense of humor and is known to throw "zingers" at anyone foolish enough to verbally spar with her. While she's not a heavy drinker, she has an unnatural tolerance for alcohol and can easily drink men under the table who are far larger than herself.

lthough she has no pets of her own, Corinne is at ease amongst nearly all animals. They take to her naturally and she can often coax better behavior from them than their owners.
Clay got it in his head that he could score with Corinne by giving her a few stiff drinks. But all he really scored was a case of alcohol poisoning and a night in the ER.

Outside work, she engages in a wide array of physical hobbies. She's a survivalist and a formidable sparring partner. Many who judge her by her size are taken aback when they witness her ability to master physical challenges.
Although she can't be bothered to invest the time needed to become an outright fan of any given team or sport, she talks knowledgeably on nearly all manner of pastimes. She's especially fluent in subjects that are typically seen as "guy subjects".
