First Sevnóni Rebellion

The First Sevnóni Rebellion, also known as the Whiteridge Uprising or the War that lost the East, was the first of 19 rebellions or uprisings staged by the Sevnóni people against the Wythian Empire. The rebellion lasted roughly nine years, beginning shortly after the official annexation of Sevnónicha by the Empire in 71 AU and lasting until the Siege of Vyssíjórgen in 81 AU.

Notes

  • some distant male relative of the emperor marries the niece of the previous Sevnóni king, who has been temporarily ruling as queen since her uncle's death at the hands of 'sinopans'
  • there have been a series of strategic political marriages between wythian nobles and sevnoni chieftains across the country in the past ~50 years, so there is a somewhat strong sense of support for the empire amongst the upper echelons of sevnoni politics
  • after the joint invasion that resulted in fall of Tenyokia and wythe's annexation of Sinopa the previous year, support for Sevnonicha's military alliance with the Empire is at an all-time high.
  • The Sevnoni alliance with the Empire was one of the Empire's oldest and strongest, beginning as a trade agreement with Dalhurst in the Pre-Imperial era and expanding into a strong partnership
