Yakki Borrok

Special thanks goes to Master Heyso Hertel for his translations of the following passage from the Azári book Tamiz Bándát Jód (Imperial Wythian: Manners for a Future Husband) by Pál Kanag.
If a proper Azárian wishes to marry, he must uphold himself to one of our most sacred traditions. All participate, whether they be landless, noble born, or royalty.   First - To begin the Yakki Borrok, a man must first find a suitable woman of proper status. You need not to have spoken to her before (but it helps).   Second - Go out to a body of water with your pole or spear, and catch a fish, the larger the better. If one lacks a pole or spear, ask family and friends to borrow theirs. If one lacks the ability of access to open water, one may hunt wild game of modest size. If one is a farmer, they may substitute fishing or hunting for one of their own animals of great size and fat.   Third - Dress yourself in your finest, and knock on her families home five times. Present her father with the fish/animal and if he deems its size worthy, he will allow you access inside.   Forth - Once inside, greet the mother, and allow her to lead you to the kitchen to prepare the fish/animal. Use any spices and herbs they have available (I find spices from Meluvrata, and the Želee flower from Tuhannen work wonders) and cook the fish/animal to perfection. Present it to the mother and allow her to taste. If it satisfies, she will bring your future wife into the room.   Fifth - The last part of the ceremony requires you to make your future wife smile. This is done sometimes with a dance, a song, a poem, a joke, or other manners of techniques. Once she smiles at your displays of affection, the ceremony is complete and you are free to ask her to marry.   Closing - In doing these rituals, a man proves to her father that he can provide for her, to her mother that he can humble himself to a wife's work, and to her that he can provide entertainment and happiness to her life. Follow the aforementioned steps, and the woman of your dreams can be yours!
