Samitah
Samitah is an ancient family, much akin to those of the Miraks, once even greater, but such days have long passed, their once venerable family having split itself to pieces over and over again. The great family can trace its roots back to the Ascension of the first Radiant when their family were master fleshcrafters, a tradition they still hold to, though it is not looked upon favorably since the siege of Fahdarm and the second civil war.
During the rise of current Radiant , many of the family were purged as sympathizers to the claimant as few of the family took a stance in defense of radiant will the battle for a city still raged on. Thus were the Samitah greatly mistrusted and feel out of favor.
This isolation and social mistrust from those around them saw the Samitah spiral into fatalistic abandon, to regain their former honor, using old and discarded techniques of their flesh crafting ancestors, carving runes of strengthening to enhance themselves, as such they have sold themselves as soldiers and served as vanguards for the Radiant for many years, slowly rebuilding lost trust, paid for in the blood of generations, and beauty of their bodies a great sacrifice amongst the Kartih who view physical deformities with great disgust, but to them, there is no price too great to regain their lost honor. This culminated in the second civil war, in which the majority of their houses immediately pledged to the Radiant, but once more to their shame some rallied to the pretender, causing the family to practically tearing itself apart during the war
Many members of their house give themselves to the holy church to preach the word of the Radiant’s glory and the sunborn’s divine will, as repentance for their family’s sins, this great penitence has earned them great respect and admiration in the church, who see them as martyrs for their fatalism in the battle against the radiant’s enemies, and perhaps uniquely in Rashim offers the family sanctuary and a place to commune and rest without judgment. This and the families dedication to protecting communities outside of Rashim during the Harrow storm, saw them trusted if not by the majority of the Rashi, but at least by its countryside and farmlands, something which gave them at least a base of support to build upon, as such the family has ever since those days kept most of its family along the Nitea in the countryside, where they don’t have to worry about the judgment of others but the admiration of those they protect.
Though there have been the dark rumors, those that claim that the Samitah worship strange gods, gods who like them flay their own skin, strange northern gods. But there is little to substantiate these rumors and to the Samitah it but another slight thrown against them, one they ignore in complaisant fury.
The Samitah are known to have good relations with the Karith, for they have found selves on the same side of many a conflict during their earlier years of exile as mercenary, a relation they kept even after they returned to Rashim, often enlisting them with good rates during minor conflicts and facilitating trade with the exotic goods they might ferry across the desert.
With the recent elevation of Zahia, the Samitah have once more seen a rise in court, something barred to them for many generations. Allowing them to join the Radiant Guard once more without shame, though not yet fully trusted by all for
