The land of Stygia is harsh land like most of the kathlam, but also posses many rare and verdant vally’s which are somehow untouched by the ravages of the endless sands, something which the mages of the land claim responsibility for, while others claim it was the pact between the ancient king and his goddess, the red lady, though few this notion any credence as her worship fell out of favour in most domains in Stygia many years ago.
The land was named for it's famous and rare material a dark metal which was simply refered to as stygian rock, by the first settlers for it's jagged edges.
