Apache Pass Station
Fourteen miles west of San Simon Station, Apache Pass was named for the natives who've long used the gap as an ambush point. The location is so notorious that the Spanish called it Puerto del Dado, because traveling through was as chancy as rolling a die. The station is a veritable fortress of stone. Food and fodder needs to be carted in, but the station is built on a reliable spring. In the last few years, Apache warriors have been willing to trade firewood and game for water and cash. As might be expected, these transactions are negotiated with a certain level of caution.
