San Simon Station
Sixteen miles west of Doubtful Canyon Station, San Simon is the first station in the Arizona Territory. A relatively late addition to the route, it was built because there is no source of water between Doubtful Pass and Apache Pass. Instead of being built on a stream or atop a well, the station has a tank and water is carted from Apache Pass. With no water or grazing available, the station keeps a minimum of horses. The barren terrain does offer the small benefit that the station is ignored by the Apaches.
