Oatman's Flat Station
Twenty miles southwest of Kenyon Station, Oatman's Flat is another of the Gila River stations where water and food are readily available. The station's most notable feature is the gravesite of the Oatman family who were massacred by the Tolkepaya in 1950. With Olive Oatman's story of life as a white woman living with the Tolkepaya and later the Mohave becoming so popular, many travellers will make the short walk to see the graves. Station personnel are usually glad to tell the details of the story, which may vary considerably, depending upon how gullible they consider the audience to be.
