— The Prophecy of the Twelve
The Prophecy of the Twelve is the doomsday event prophesied by the right hand of the ancient Altar Pantheon's chief goddess, of whom took every precaution she could to no avail, even going to far as to blind and eternally imprison her son who was said to be one of the Twelve that would cause the event.

History

The prophecy told to the goddess Azra, known at the time by another name, that six individuals from the mortal realm and six from The Altar Realm would meet at the gate between the two worlds, and with their combined power change the fabric of time and space forever, uniting the two realms indefinitely and resetting the world. This event was said to be unchangeable, and even the all powerful chief goddess could do nothing to stop the event from occurring.
The prophecy was given to the goddess by the former devil legionnary that would go on to become her right hand, though the prophecy given to her told a different story than the true prophecy that would soon be fulfilled. The devil, Dromas, told her of a prophesy where the Twelve needed to meet at the gate, whose combined power would prevent the cataclysm. As apparent by the world's situation, this was a lie used to get the goddess to unite the realms. There has been speculation concerning this story that Dromas' goal was from his father, Az'ganoth's will to allow the devils of the Underrealm to invade the overworld. Others speculate it had nothing to do with his father, but was rather of his own accord and to spite the gods of the Altar realm.
The goddess decided to take the prophecy into her own hands, finding the locations (and eras) of the Twelve written about in the prophecy with the help of her Hand, finding a young protege among them from the human realm and an explorer who she would recruit to locate the remaining individuals located in the Mortal Realm, also giving him the ability to travel throughout the timelines and the two realms freely.
Azra soon came to discover that her own son was one of the twelve that would merge the realms on the day of the Cataclysm; she knew that the Twelve would not survive if their power was combined, and so in effort to protect her son she blinded him to subdue his power and hope the others would be enough to stop the event. Even still, her son, now known as the god Satris, was able to find the location of the gate, and his power was still enough to fulfil the prophecy.

The Cataclysm

The moment the Prophecy was said to be fulfilled, the gate between the realms began to crumble as a great power began to emanate from between the gate, and as the great light began to pour out onto the shore of the Mortal Realm where stood the Twelve the prophecy had called from across the worlds, thus began the end of thousands of years of history.   In the end, Azra sent her son to the one realm that would not converge, the Underrealm, and as the Prophecy came to fruition, the other eleven members of the Prophecy were believed to be destroyed along with the inhabitants of both realms.
There was a period of time known as the Standstill, in which the new plane comprised of the mortal and Altar realms stood quiet as the lands formed together in the wake of destruction. After time had passed, the AC Era had begun, and the world was reformed anew. The races enhabiting both the mortal and Altar realms now began to re-emerge upon the lands that would come to be known as Helthoria, with cities like Ara and Thal being built to house humanoid races of people.

Aftermath

With the merge of the realms there also came new dangers that the mortal realm's people had only heard about in stories; creatures of myth and legend now roamed the lands, and humankind had to learn to survive once again. In some cases, they would recieve aide from the former enhabitants of the Altar realm, though new quarrels were sparked and some groups began to feud amongst themselves, diverging and building their own cities elsewhere.
The goddess and the rest of the Altar Pantheon were given new names by the new realm's enhabitants, and new deities began to emerge as cultures began to thrive in Helthoria. As for Satris; it is said that her son's resting place lay somewhere beneath Thal.
