The events prior to (Hoard of the dragon queen) takes place, resulting in turmoil in Zarilith and the Mere of Dead Men in general.

After Suncaller was murdered by the bullywugs in servitude to the cult of dragon, numerous Lizardfolk attempted to flee the village fearing for their lives. While some were more successful than others, it led to a fracturing of the town of Zarilith with a dozen or so members missing, and several more killed.
