Cherut Das Kino 'Enekinia (kēy-no èhn-èk-ēna)

The Cherut Das Corps of Civil Engineers is a proud and hardworking group of engineers and civil workers that work to keep the city running. Members are well loved and respected by most of the populace.

Uniform

Members of the Kino 'Enekinia are easily identified by their one piece of standard issue kit, the "Engineers Sash". A leather tool bandolier that hangs across the body ending in a pouch that rests on the hip. At the top of the Engineers Sash, members of the Kino 'Enekinia wear a blue badge, which simultaneously indicates their membership of the Kino 'Enekina as well as their rank within. A polished steel hammer amidst a light blue field, with a number of gold stripes indicating their rank. Senior Chiefs, District Chiefs, and the Master Chief Engineer will additionally have one to three gold stars below the hammer.

Structure

Each of the eight main districts, as well as the city center, is overseen by one District Chief, responsible for all equipment and overseeing all operations within that district. Most of these District Chiefs have risen through the ranks, with minimal influence by the Council of Families. However, most families do tend to try to stay on the good side of their District Chief. The details vary, but a common tale in the city is of a rude Family crossing paths with a District Chief and ending up with their sewage running in reverse for a day.   Under the District Chiefs are a number of Senior Chiefs that all are, themselves, responsible for different sections or systems within the District. These Senior Chiefs are, themselves responsible for assigning and scheduling work and maintenance within their space.

Culture

'Chief'
In a given jobsite or meeting, the highest ranking engineer is always referred to with the title of 'Chief', regardless of actual rank or title. It is a term used to display respect for knowledge and expertise of the individual so named.
Mandatory Insolence
To the Kino 'Enekinia, an unconsidered fact or point of view is the most important one. In non-emergency situations, it is tradition for every engineering decision to be questioned by a lower ranking engineer. No matter how big or small, every decision must make sense to the people that are executing it. From the lowest ranking wrench turner to the Master Chief Engineer, it is expected that someone under them will know something that they don't. The Kino operate in facts and logical decisions, and any technician that has questions or misgivings about any decision has a duty to raise those concerns to their Chief.
