The Bridge Badlands

Bridge Badlands Even though the Viaduct was built to withstand millennia of travel by monumentally sized walking cities, they doesn’t mean that it hasn’t fallen into any sort of disrepair. While the bridge itself is completely traversable, even by cities as large of Erras Das, it is no longer the shining achievement of engineering that the Atlanteans had envisioned. While the bridges closest to Nibiru are in good shape, the ones closer to Kumari are not. The bridge closest to the continent has its supports wrapped up in the Tangle, a gang of gyro-raiders rides the bridges to loot from desperate travelers, and to make all things worse, parts of the bridge have iced over to make a wintery landscape reclaimed by nature.   The most well known worry of traveling along the Viaduct is the raiders. While any part of the bridge could have bandits on it, the ones in the latter portions of the bridge are more dangerous and persistent. Using salvaged gyro-cycles that they took from the remains of Nilar Das, the gyro-raiders patrol and terrorize both the local residents of Zeta as well as any travelers along the road. Even moving cities aren’t fully immune from them, though they are likely to give them less trouble. With their use of traps and love of pursuit, the raiders are much more akin to predators than normal bandits. They’ll even hunt you down when other brigands would stop, both for the game of it and because meat is meat.   The parts of the bridge closest to Kumari have been completely reclaimed by nature. Not only have the icy winds turned the salty water that’s blown onto the bridge turned to permaice, but the centuries of dirt and snow blown on top of that have allowed trees to grow until there is now a fully developed forest. However, with a forest comes more than trees. Psyers, bloomlings and worse lurk within the woods, each with tooth and claw.     To make matters worse, the Ango Vine from the Tangle has began to creep, slowly, but surely, up and around the supports of the viaduct in places. There has been worry that if this continues long enough then the support struts could actually give way. Whats even more worrying is that the Ango vines are crawling onto the top of the bridge. If it can survive up there, it can spread, and if it can spread, then it will be hard to keep it in check. Perhaps what is most worrying of all though is that the vibes are not all that is spreading, as somehow it appears that a portion of the Corpse has been intertwined with the vines around ones of the struts and it’s corruption is beginning to spread.
