Satow Ryotaka (サト リョタカ Sa-tow Ryo-ta-ka)
Satow is a former banker who lost his wife and children in a fire instigated by a gang known as Bloody Eye in 2015. Despite his efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice, the courts failed to identify and convict those responsible, leading to his financial ruin. Homeless until late 2018, Satow was offered a chance to rebuild his life through Bleach Japan, where his tragic story became a compelling narrative for their marketing campaign.
Although his professional background suggested otherwise, Satow had a passion for martial arts, specifically kendo, and even won a national championship in his 20s. He took on the role of training newcomers and officers in Bleach Japan, teaching them self-defense skills. During his time there, he befriended Yamada Nagaoki.
Initially, Satow admired the government figure Ryo Aoki and the 3K Plan, viewing Aoki as a hero. However, his faith was shattered when Aoki was revealed to be just another corrupt politician with ties to the Yakuza. This betrayal motivated Satow to join forces with Yamada to establish the Gangbusters from the remnants of Bleach Japan.
Satow's experiences with injustice and the failure of the system to hold the guilty accountable have shaped him into an anarchist. He harbors a deep-seated disdain for the police and other official bodies, driven by a belief that true justice can only be achieved outside the bounds of political and institutional frameworks.
Fighting Style
Satow is a skilled and precise combatant who exerts no more effort than necessary when fighting. He predominantly uses two different fighting styles. His Power Style, which he calls "Samurai," is very defensive and involves the use of either a katana or a wooden bokuto. This style relies on tight bladework and subtle dodges to provide maximum defensive coverage, minimizing his body's exposure. In contrast, his Stamina Style, referred to as "Shogun," primarily employs unarmed techniques. Drawing from Kodokan Goshinjutsu and Jeet Kune Do, this style emphasizes balance, allowing Satow to maintain an upright posture while attacking, making him difficult to knock down. His preferred takedown techniques include a right hammerfist to the face and a left inward backfist-overhand right combo.
