The Aarchalia Ledger
This ledger, sent from Jotunhal to The Spire via a rider, was penned by the now infamous rogue Aarchalia.
It was written to create tensions between the city of Jotunhal, and The Spire. Purposely and falsely written in the verse, style and name of a Dwarf merchant, it accused several members of 'The Knowledge' (A wizards guild from The Spire) of not paying for magical items recently taken from the auction hall in Jotunhal.
After a breakdown of communications, and further tampering by Aarchalia, the two cities temporarily entered a state of open conflict.
Jotunhal fielded 3 Stone Giants, 120 Dwarf heavy infantry and 100 Dwarf Heavy Crossbowmen.
The Spire sent 60 of the Crowsend Light Cavalry, 80 of the Drelde Stalwart Heavy Infantry, and 150 archers from the Bararral Levy.
Skirmishes were primarily swift and thankfully without serious casualties. Injuries, while common, were typically not severe and the application of clerical magic on scene prevented numerous deaths on both sides.
After 2 months of conflict both sides agreed to meet and try again at diplomacy. Both sides maintained their forces on site, and while hostilities temporarily ceased, there was unease and unrest. Both sides remained suspicious of the opposite force, and maintained a strained readiness.
After an additional month, it was realized that the entire conflict was a ruse. Neither side had wanted the conflict, at least not in earnest, and only instigation from a very convincing outside force had moved them to this action.
