Following Leads and Returning
1st of Alitus, 1017 Second Era

We began by comparing our leads and made a plan to address all three. First, we bided our time before staking out on Debee's steam boat ride. In that meanwhile I was able to copy down Mage Armor into my spellbook at a reduced cost (75% off!). There was no heinous activity, or at least not the kind we anticipated. I instead found a block of powder (which I later learned was Echo). After that failure we spent the day working on various tasks as we waited for the next night. I worked for eight hours at the college, earning a scroll of invisibility from Mathias. Well into my shift I was interrupted by a man asking for Debee by means of a wanted poster. I feigned ignorance and waited to learn more. Sir Kyk and Lilina approached me a few hours later and I learned that Debee had accosted an innocent librarian with her mimic (disguised as a cat) because she was offended that such a renowned wizard as Talesman did not know of its existence when he wrote his dissertation. I decided after my shift to visit the library and asked a scribe to copy down the anatomical drawing of an Aarakocra for Debee to study. We then passed the night with dinner and a show; where I had earned one platinum for my 8 hours slaving at the college (and a scroll worth a pretty penny), Sir Kyk earned twice the amount in a few short hours with his performance in the tavern. I messed with some of the locals, getting up to my heydey hijinks, before finally absconding into the night to meet the merchant.   When meeting with him I learned about this ability to enchant items with infused runes and chisel. He came onto me quite hotly and I played along. It felt good to be perceived as desirable. After spending the night and learning more about the enchantment process (such as how the cube is powered by a prototype of the philosopher's stone used by Lady Rivercrest), and that it would be only 15 days of waiting after one enchantment session to use said enchantment, I realized the potential of the process. In the morning, after the elf had left I decided to take the items for further study. I did not appreciate being taunted by the young elf at the premise of being his "apprentice" for quote "a very long time," especially if he was so quick to bed his potential lackey. In retrospect I should have also nabbed his demonstration piece, but in the moment I was focused on the device itself.   Finding the first two leads cold, we decided to move out for Lake Armads, where apparently the Harp of Helene was located. I ran back to the library to pick up the scroll I was owed and I copied down the lore about the harp for future reference. I don't know what it is about my recent happenings, but I also managed to quickly abscond with some extra ink for my writing. I never knew I was capable of such depravity. Anyway, after my brief fall from grace we marched to the southern point of Lake Armads. After a day or two surveying, Debee found resonance of a magical object seemingly below the lake. I decided to take a solo trip to the ruins of the Ostian Court to try and recover some potions of water breathing. I was able to pluck 4 away, along with two of my books and another 20 gold from my secret cache. The scene was barren, and my original precaution of using invisibility was not needed. I returned hastily and Debee and Sir Kyk went down below to try and retrieve the harp. Debee resurfaced after some time and requested that we follow her. I was wary given that the potions would be a one-way ticket (so to speak), but given that it was probably the means for the harp, I obliged. Debee and Sir Kyk found an old cavern that held a statue of Queen Lilina, and a challenge to find the harp. Princess Lilina smartly chose to stay near the entrance of the dungeon as the three of us bore deeper, turning towards the right-hand door found behind an underground tree.

One Step Forward, Three Steps Back
23rd of Almitas, 1017 2nd Era

While studying I found the names of the pre-war dragons, which are also the names of the months. I also learned more about dracoliths - in a literal sense, their graves. And there is one of these graves per country, but there is no known grave for Relaquum. As far as how to raise a draconic sorcerer, I found more information about how to train a sorcerer, so I have written down some notes for future reference. I tried to best record what I can, and I'm beginning to hatch an idea of where to go next. First, I would like to look more into the history of Relaquum and leads as to where to find the dracolith. If this history is as entangled with Lilina's personal history as I believe it to be, this is our best bet to find more information about the possible issue the followers of Linneaus has with the kingdom of Ostia. I would also like to find amiable followers of Linneaus who may know more.   We decided to visit the Mystia Plateau to follow up on some leads or information based on what I had learned. I had the opportunity to rightfully punch Debee in the face, causing her split coloring to turn into a full aasimar presentation. We landed with ease on the rock, and decided to visit the master Divination wizard. Lucia let us know that she would be able to assist us if we found (and possibly) retrieved her scrying orb from the Thieves Guild that has tampered with her divining operation. William Maus, a steamboat operator, Rodolph Pomada, a merchant specializing in high quality items, and head of the Bard's College Miriam Albeau, would be possible leads to start finding Lucia's orb. We agreed to assist her in exchange for deep-scyring either for Linneaus intel or more information regarding the whereabouts of Relaquum's dracolith. We agreed as a team that I would check with the Rodolph the merchant seeing as I have more knowledge about arcane enchantments and a prior hobby of checking magical shops.   I met with Rodolph and tried to grill him for information; he seems to be completely fair about most of his dealings and being a one-man merchant, but he did invite me to see his "secretive" process as to how he creates these wonders. I agreed to meet with him tomorrow night to learn more; it would be best if I was followed at length by the party just in case. Meeting up with Debee and Kyk, we realized that we all had leads with minute success (if any). We decided that we would first follow Debee's lead with the steamboat operator with a nighttime sting, tomorrow night my lead with the merchant, and at worst we would follow Kyk's lead back to Lake Armads to find a mythical instrument for the head of the Bard's College.

Slowly Returning Home
23rd of Almitas, 1017 2nd Era

There has been much fuss and business since last I wrote. We managed to sneak into Carmichael and dispersed as necessary. The princess, Kyk and I were about to find disguises when we ran into a young woman who wore a black and white cape. She entreated us information about the princess and offered us assistance and shelter, at which point we couldn't necessarily refuse. We procured new outfits and met with the young woman's warden, and ultimately came to the conclusion to bring the young woman, Debee, with us on our journey to our mutual benefit.   We moved on to the city of Alburn by boat and ferry, and met with a few merchants in the city. I was poorly received by one of my old classmates; I fear there was a gross misunderstanding that led to an awkward conclusion. I then met with my previous instructor and scoured the library for books relating to the first dragons and draconic bloodlines. I was invited to be an impromptu guest lecturer for Evocation 101 to which I obliged, but at this point it was more of a courtesy (much to my chagrin).

Absconding Fallen Territory
2nd Month, 23rd day, 1017 S.E.

After meeting with the formidable mercenary Gru-Kai, our group decided to move stealthily across the land to avoid detection at the threat of capture and death. Around our eighth day of travel, while we rested in the evening, we learned something about our dear Princess Lilina. During one of my magic lectures, Sir Kyk, Pop, and I were demonstrating the use of basic spells such as firebolt, mage hand, shocking grasp, etcetera. Princess Lilina was able to, after observing us, show a grand display of magical capacity, casting firebolt, burning hands, and friends. As the kings I have served are deceased and Lilina is not privy to the information I possess, I brought Sir Kyk and Pop aside to tell them more about Lilina and her family. Knowing of their loyalty to Ostia and the princess, I trust them to not betray me. Upon returning, Gru let us know that she could also cast a spell that resembled ice. Princess Lilina's powers are advancing rapidly; I hope that we find shelter soon so we may weather this second storm.   Upon the tenth day of travel we met an impasse at a smaller river before the great canal between Carmichael and the continent. What was curious was the stalwart, 9-foot tall barricade that barred our entry. Given our impatience we did not scan the wall's distance to find a port to pass and rather hopped the fence after some deliberation. Sadly, just after our passing, our presence was detected by a patrol. We also passed the river eventfully: Princess Lilina and Pop were taken away by the river's current and Sir Kyk and Gru made great efforts to return the pair to shore.   After our short swim we followed the shore up to the port and found that it is being manned by members of the faith of Linneaus; a paladin stopped us and Sir Kyk was able to deter them from finding us out as the fugitives they spoke of. As of speaking with them, we are able to discern that they are specifically looking for Princess Lilina and myself. We were able to pass with relative ease and gain access to Carmichael by ferry. When in the city, we followed Pop's lead and find ourselves setting up lodging in The Resting Aboleth, as Pop is apparently friendly with the owner of the inn.   We plan on finding new garments to better conceal our identities as well as a way to forge false papers to obscure our identities further if we find ourselves at another checkpoint. I also plan on visiting the Lord of the Lake magical store to see if I may find any scrolls or spells to copy that are of a binding or debilitating nature so we may better prepare for the hordes of enemies we may also face.

The Fall of Ostia and the Quest for Re-Ascension
2nd Month, 13th day, 1017 S.E.

Sir Kyk, detective Mars, fellow wizard Pop, and myself have escaped the kingdom of Ostia with princess Liliina in tow. We have learned that King Gawain III is deceased as a result of the raid. Based in the uniforms of the intruders of the kingdom and the company that we found south of Ostia, west of lake Armads, I believe that the agents are related to worshipers of Linnaeus. I am not sure if it is an organized effort, but I am willing to bet that it is based on the coordinated effort and uniforms. As such, I will use the symbol I picked up as a cover as necessary. We also encountered what seems to be a meaty half-orc named Gru who was commissioned by the king for a mission. I am not sure what this mission may be but it seems as though he was headed to Carmichael to board a ship for Gineva as part of his mission. Princess Lilina seems to understand the mission as having been a witness, so I will trust her judgement on this. I also understand that Gru will be helping us and provisioning us.   As a result, we have changed the princess's clothes so that she better resembles a commoner for the time being. We have assumed the cover that she is Kyk's little sister for the time being. They will have to coach each other on details to make sure they have a consistent story in case they are separated. I feel I must record what I have learned from King Gawain, but I must decide with whom I will share this information. I will also be formulating a new last will and testament in the possible event of my untimely death. I will hide this will in the back of my spellbook, which I believe I will leave behind to Pop, the other wizard in our party. At this point, I best trust Kyk with the information I hold close to my heart. While he's not necessarily the most cunning or tactful, he does have the best heart and dedication, which will make him probably the most reliable candidate to hold my information.   Luckily as a result of fighting the (what I assume to be a) search party I was able to equip myself with a longsword which makes me feel more secure. When we reach Carmichael I plan on equipping us with necessary essentials such as rations and explorers' packs for our farther trip. I am currently debating on whether or not we should convene in Gineva or Bellem to find more information or support for our cause, or if we should stay in Carmichael. I feel as though Carmichael is too close to the scene of incident to keep us safe.   Most of all I worry for the princess--I know that she is a wicked-smart young woman, but she still has much to learn. I do value her input but I do also hope she trusts her new-found advisors. I hope most that she trusts my judgement and input as I am the most well-founded candidate and most loyal to her crown. I worry for how she favors Pop -- although I trust her as a fellow wizard and researcher, the crazed look in her eye and her ardent use of fireball give me cause for concern. I also do not trust the salty nature of the half-orc we have hired; he seems to doubt the rest of us despite our skills and knowledge. I must finish my writing now as the Tiny Hut is about to disperse and we have found our plans to continue our move towards Carmichael. We will find the southern harbor soon and board passage; I hope the find us as lowly refugees so they do not up-charge us on a boarding fee. If that happens to be the case, I hope Kyk and myself can help us out of such as sore situation.
