Session 21: An ecumenical matter!
General Summary
The party woke from an uncomfortable night's sleep in the Excriptory of Jamboor. They had been brought some blankets on Malcer's insistence but it was crowded with all the children and young people.
Considering their plans and wary that they may have been watched leaving the prison, Cassandra voluntered to head out to bring back Jenette Holycraft and also to fetch Hanly Grouse, having promised him personally that his daughter would be returned safely. She went to Holycraft first and then continued on to Uelle's father as Holycraft made her own way to the Excriptory.
She was surprised but very pleased to see the children gathered there when she arrived and congratulated the party members on their success. However, as they told her of their tribulations during the rescue her expression changed to one of concern. She seemed to be in two minds as to what to do next and seemed almost relucutant as she suggested that someone shoud send for her superior Lord Barahil at the Temple of Muir. A disciple of Jamboor was sent out discreetly to fetch Barahil. He arrived shortly after, the temple being only a few buildings away.
Lord Barahil was a tall, stern and grey-bearded figure and he raised a well-trimmed eyebrow as he looked around at the many young, frightened and dirty faces awaiting him in the Excriptory. He pushed through the crowd and went straight to Jenette. She stood defiantly as he approached but paled slightly, bracing herself for criticism.
"Your actions have put us all in danger Jenette! I know you mean to do good but you will stir up a hornets nest and we are not strong enough to deal with it. Cease your meddlings in the machinations of the city at once, there are far worse enemies for us to be fighting in the name of Muir!"
Malcer stepped in to confront Barahil who turned to him angrily but he managed to control himself and said, with a consillatory tone, that he did not blame the companions. He did however, advise them that it might be better if they left Bard's Gate as soon as possible. He did not seem to want to explain things further but suggested that they come to see him at the Temple of Muir later to hear further about his statement.
Jennete led the children away with several Muir Paladins from the temple accompanying her for safety and Cassandra arrived with Hanley Grouse. Uelle and her father hugged each other fiercly as father and daughter were reunited. He offered coin to the adventurers but Cassandra refused the offer graciously.
After some consideration and discussion, the party decided to head south out of Bard's Gate to investigate the mysterious map found in Greeli's quarters.Character(s) interacted with
Barahil the Faithful - Leader of the Temple of Muir in Bard's Gate.
