Homo Exodus

Earth has been ravaged. Widespread climate alteration, record high sea level, complete disappearance of the south polar ice cap has wiped out nearly a quarter of the human race since its peak at A.D. 2035. While localized geoengineering has yielded some positive results, their effect is highly limited.   Most governments have either collapsed or forced coalitions in order to endure this unprecedented hardship. Among them, The United Nations of Freedom, People’s Democratic Republic of Asia and The Greater European Union are the three largest.   Eventually, even these three behemoths realized that they cannot reverse the course of history on their own. Out of other options, they came together to form the first world governing body since the United Nations - United Earth Cooperation. Its primary goal was simply to ensure human survival into the next millennia.   First, three Space Elevators to regain access to space through the debris belts. Then The Reverse Dyson Cloud to control the global climate and overcome the energy cap. Finally, the MFP Drive, an efficient engine designed for the exodus of humanity onto nearby planetary and sub-planetary objects. With the first launch of the spaceship Unity I, United Earth Cooperation officially changed the world calendar from Anno Domini into Homo Exodus. Yet humanity has not learned from their near escape of extinction. Old animosities, ancient conflicts, primordial ideologies again threaten humanity among the stars.
