MFP Drive
Miniature Fusion Pulse Drive
The reason this drive is named the "pulse drive" is due to the series of micro-fusion explosions used by this engine to generate energy and thrust. Each explosion has a specific standard energy output which has been proven to be unadjustable. This specific output only creates a minute amount of energy. More powerful drives can increase its frequency of explosions to obtain a higher output. This quirk allows the thrust of the drive to be accounted for in hertz (pulse per second).
As the MFP Drive requires a special form of metallic deuterium as fuel, its fuel tanks are surprisingly small and a standard fuel block can sustain flight for months without refuelling.
