The Heirs

The Heirs have a long and complex history, dating back to the origins of human history on Honarth, and their influence can be felt in many if not all aspects of society on Honarth.   They are a secret society of human members, who use cloning and an advanced technology known as MIND (Memory Interface Neural Device) to preserve their essence and continue living on the planet of Honarth, thereby allowing them to exist at any age they choose, be it young or old. In essence, any adult human, regardless of background or character, could potentially be a secret member of this mysterious society, carrying generations worth of experiences and knowledge.   With their power and influence, working behind the scenes, they established planet-wide isolationism putting an end to the Great Colony Wars and banning space travel, and were responsible for hiding the influence of the Red Meteors attack on Anacam in an event known as "The Silence of Seven Days". They are constantly working to advance their technology, influence the world around them and keep the power dynamics of Honarth under their control.

Lives and Backgrounds of the Heirs

The original founders of The Heirs were among the first human colonizers to arrive on Honarth from outer space and settle near the Sea of Life. They have experienced countless lives through the years, always living with the sense of duty that they share and value in their organization.   The Heirs take generational turns occupying high-profile positions such as politicians and corporate executives, and during their "downtime" they adopt lower-profile identities, mingling with the underworld and working from the shadows. There are those, although few in number, that choose to live a life outside of the intrigue, indulging in luxurious lifestyles or pursuing their passions.

Detached from Reality

The Heirs, being immortal and in control of advanced technology and resources, have become increasingly detached from the reality of the average person on Honarth. They have lost touch with the struggles and needs of ordinary people, leading to a devaluation of their lives.   As they live for thousands of years, they see the lives of mortals as short and insignificant, leading to a sense of superiority and detachment. They view themselves as a separate and more advanced species, and this mindset can make them ruthless in their decision-making.   This detachment from reality has led to the Heirs prioritizing their own interests above all else, even if it means sacrificing the lives of millions. They see themselves as the guardians and rulers of Honarth, and view anyone who opposes their rule as a threat that must be eliminated.   The Heirs' prolonged lifespan has also led to a loss of certain aspects of their humanity, such as empathy and compassion. They have become desensitized to the suffering of others, and often see them as mere pawns in their plans.   In their quest for power and immortality, the Heirs have committed heinous acts, such as using cadonians as a means of providing filtered Elerium and suppressing the truth about their origins. They have also suppressed and manipulated information to maintain their grip on power, leading to widespread social and political inequality.   The Heirs' detachment from reality has created a dangerous power dynamic, where they control the fate of Honarth and its people without being held accountable for their actions. As long as they remain in power, the lives and well-being of the average person will always be secondary to their own interests.

Position of Power

The Heirs have existed for tens of thousands of years, and as such, have infiltrated many high-power organizations throughout history, always manipulating events to their advantage and controlling Honarth's progress. Currently, members of the Heirs can be found in all corporations and government bodies, while others work from the shadows, manipulating events in their own way.

Influence on Honarth

The Heirs have had a profound influence on Honarth, both positively and negatively. On one hand, they have used their vast resources and knowledge to help the planet and its people, but on the other, they have also been known to manipulate events to suit their own interests. However, their ultimate goal is always to protect and care for Honarth in their own way, which often means making difficult choices and sacrifices.

History of Involvement in Honarth

The Heirs have been influencing the events of Honarth for millenia, and their role has been far-reaching and multi-faceted.   During the Great Colony Wars, the Heirs advocated for isolationism and successfully banned space travel, leading to the construction of a massive dyson sphere-like device around Honarth that protected the planet from outside influence and cut off any chance of contact with the rest of the galaxy.   One of the most significant events that the Heirs were involved in was the "Silence of Seven Days" in 5978. This was a covert attack by the Red Meteors, a revolutionary group in Honarth, on Anacam, a hidden city that Anacorp was building privately. The Heirs played a crucial role in hiding the influence of the attack, which marked the beginning of the Second Post-Corpostates Era.   The Heirs also planned the merger of UCARR and Anacorp for years and were instrumental in making Elerium medicinal and wellness products more widely available and accessible to the people. Through their efforts, Elerium has become an essential part of everyday life in Honarth and has been used to greatly improve the health and wellbeing of the planet's inhabitants.

Cloning & Death

Cloning is an important aspect of the Heirs' existence. They have the ability to transfer their consciousness and memories into new cloned bodies, effectively allowing them to live forever. This cloning process is performed by Kiani-Wynn Industries, which provides private cloning facilities for the Heirs.   The clones are exact copies of the previous body, and this is the only way to achieve 100% MIND synchronization. The MIND technology is implanted in the new body, allowing the Heirs to maintain their memories, skills, and muscle memory from their previous lives.   However, the process of transferring their essence into a new body means that their biological body and life end with each transfer. When the current Heir's body dies, their MIND is transferred to the fresh clone body, forming synapses with the clone's brain and interfacing with the rest of the body. This connection to all previous lives of the heir means that every heir remembers the last moments of each of their lives.   Despite this, death is still a concept that they have to face, as each transfer of their consciousness is effectively the end of their biological life. While most Heirs have been able to handle this inevitability, there have been instances of Heirs who could not, and have strayed from the organization's grasp.

Current Affairs

Kiani-Wynn, is currently working on genetic engineering to combine cloning and MIND technology with the cadonian species. Their are experimenting with cloning engineered humans and engineered cadonians, and converting human genomes into cadonian genomes to replicate the cloning process. Their goal is to succeed in creating cadonian clones and opening the way to eventually start adding cadonians to the ranks of the Heirs.   However, there are concerns among a small faction of Heirs working for UCARR - Anacorp. These Heirs suspect that Kiani-Wynn has ulterior motives and plans to take over control of the organization once they successfully produce the first cadonian clone with 100% MIND synchronization.   On the other hand, the Heirs in Kiani-Wynn believe that UCARR - Anacorp is producing a synthetic substitute for Elerium, known as Elian, with the intention of taking over the Heirs and producing clones on their own terms, disregarding the strict rules the organization has adhered to for millenia.

For Game Masters

The Heirs can serve as the main antagonists or as a background force influencing events in your story. The players can come across clues and hints about the existence of the Heirs and their role in the world. They can take on the role of investigators trying to uncover the truth, or as rebels trying to fight against the Heirs' control and influence.   As a game master, you can decide the level of involvement the Heirs have in the events of the story. You can introduce them as a shadowy force, manipulating events behind the scenes, or as a powerful entity with a direct hand in the events of the world.

Handling the truth of the Heirs

The truth about the Heirs and their actions can be a major revelation for the players. It's important to consider how the players will react to the truth and the implications of the Heirs' existence. Will they be horrified by the Heirs' actions and work to bring them down, or will they be tempted to join the Heirs and continue their own lives indefinitely?   You should be prepared for the players to have a range of reactions and be ready to adapt the story accordingly. It's also important to remember that the Heirs operate with a strict code of rules and the players may need to navigate those rules if they decide to take action against the Heirs. The Heirs' actions and decisions can also have major consequences for the world, and it's up to the players to decide what they want to do about it.
