Ostium
The people of Ostium are known as the singuler Ostipol or plural the Ostipolis.
Ostium practices Representative Democracy where only Citizens may vote for a District Senitor who represents their District in the Senate. The leaders of each of the cities Guilds may also sit and speak within the Senate, however do not posess a vote outside of their usual one as a Citizen. These Guildmasters are known as the Assembly. The head of the Senate is known as the Consul, and is essentially the mayor or governor of Ostium.
The most predominant religion in Ostium is the Cult of Luxuriance (Cultus Luxuriae), through which worshipers honour the Great Rex Cervus (Stag King), a fertility god of berserkers. Annually in springtime three of the cities most beautiful women are chosen to enter the Orders and are presented to Rex Cervus within his Refulgent Hallowed Haven outside the city. The Orders rituals are shadowed in mystery, as most who join rarely leave the cult and never speak of the Hallowed Haven. The young women opting for a cloistered lifestyle, only the older members Priest and Priestesses are seen about the city notable for their leopard skins and regalia.
Locateted outside the Grand Temple of Luxuriance is a statue of ???? a famous Bard and devotee of the Cult of Luxuriance. His descendants as well as those of other ancient founder families are seen as the Royal Houses of Ostium and honoured as such. These families and Cult of Luxuriance are lead by a Priest King who speaks for the Rex Cervus.
