Pink Blight

Aka. The Pink Plague

A genetically-altered virus that causes mutagenic cancer. It infects animals and plantlife, primarily hoomans who are exposed to the Blight that is growing on their homeplanet.

Transmission & Vectors

The Blight is a waterborne virus, becoming more dangerous when it rains as it can cause infected areas to increase in size. It cannot be aerosolized.

Symptoms

Early symptoms start off with infected tissue taking a pink hue. Hoomans symptoms start off with eye discolouration and horn growth, which then leads to uncontrollable eye growth.   As the symptoms become more severe, hair loss, vomiting blood and blindness will begin to occur. The Hooman will become weak, and will likely die at this point. There is a slim chance that a Hooman can survive this, but they will be stuck dis-configured and scarred.

Treatment

There is no current treatment for it, and Hoomans have been placing a lot of research into trying to find a cure.

Prognosis

Infected Hoomans are either quarantined and experimented on to search for a cure, or left to die out in the Corrupted Lands.

Affected Groups

Any Hooman can fall victim to Pink Blight.

Hosts & Carriers

Any vegetation or creatures in the corrupted zones are able to carry the disease. The origin of the disease is unclear.

Prevention

Keeping away from the corruption and not eating contaminated foods are the safest way of not acquiring Pink Blight.

Epidemiology

The outbreak began in a northern point on the planet and began to rapidly spread throughout the planet. It's current state is mostly contained, however the hoomans worry about the consequences of what might happen if the corruption breaks through.

Cultural Reception

Due to the destruction of a huge amount of land, and what Pink Blight can do to a Hooman, the general population on the home planet fear it. People affected by the Blight are likely to be quarantined and researched on in order to find a cure for it.
