Intisar the Invincible

Intisar's Balter Career

Before Intisar, the classification of all balters was either Athlete or Warrior. Athletes used their agility and speed to win matches by scoring tremors. Warriors won matches by attempting to KO their opponents. This dichotomy of styles led to fascinating battles as the competing balters tried to assert their superiority.   If two warriors competed, there would be a process of gauging each other's abilities before choosing which one was the ascendant fighter and could enforce their style on the fight. Warrior vs warrior matchups often made an athlete of the less physical competitor.   Athlete vs athlete matches were always a battle of technical ability allied with accurate balt scoring attacks. If one athlete proved to be technically far superior, then the slower balter would become a warrior for the duration of that contest as they attempted to chase down and land a KO before their athletic opponent could score the 5 tremors to win.   This had been the dynamic at play for centuries - the battle of finesse versus brawn. But that all changed when Intisar the Invincible shot onto the scene with her deadly Snipe-blade and shattered the warrior versus athlete dynamic. Her combination of Air-enhanced athleticism and fire Sorce Abilities created a balter with skills that nobody had witnessed before.   Her entrance to the Battle Balt scene was timed to perfection as the Fein had been experimenting with a new blade called the snipe-blade. They had been hoping their Fire enhanced balters could extract the ultimate benefit, but it was Intisar the Invincible who first mastered the blade's true potential at just 18 years of age.   Her dynamic moves, combined with the added length of the snipe-blade, made it difficult for athletes to score tremors against her. Any warriors attempting to Ko her were ko'ed themselves by the precision Sorce attacks that allowed her to target her opponent's head with the balt.   Her unique skillset provided two paths to victory for every contest. She could fight as an athlete using her precision shots to score tremors or battle as a warrior using her lethal balt attacks to land headshots for quick KO victories. At first, nobody could agree if she was an athlete or a warrior - Intisar chose neither, giving herself a classification based on her blade, and from that day, a new class was born - the sniper.   Her pioneering performances continued as she won the IBL featherweight belt at only 20 - just two years after turning professional. Unfortunately, her chance to become the ARL champion was hampered by balters refusing to fight her, claiming her unique style was cheating. It took the intervention of the Imperial King at the time, Crannough Tireste, to legalise the sniper class in 804 - a decade after she had first entered the ARL league.   This meant the current featherweight champion - a Fein called Eravie the Ender, was forced to fight her. In the first month of 805, Intisar fought for the Lightweight ARL championship and overwhelmed Eravie with her precision balt shots, scoring 4 tremors to zero before sealing her ascendancy with a beautiful KO headshot. The humiliating loss for the prideful Fein was too much to bear, forcing him to retire the next day.   Intisar, showing her compassion, hired Eravie for her gym, and he quickly established himself as a respected coach, becoming a close friend of Intisar and instrumental in helping her attempt to win the ARL Open-weight championship.

Open-Weight ARL Championship:

The ultimate belt in all of Battle Balt won by only the absolute best balters in existence. In the history of Battle Balt, only a handful of balters who were middleweight or lighter have won it. In 806AP, after packing on 20% more muscular mass, Intisar shocked her fans when she gave up the featherweight ARL belt and declared she had begun training to claim the prestigious Open-weight belt.   Balter experts couldn't believe her audacity, feeling it was nothing more than a marketing stunt. A featherweight claiming to challenge the elite giants of the game, including the gargantuan Riktus warriors, was suicide.

Her early fights proved the naysayers right as she faced fierce battles that crushed her body - at the end of every battle, her balter clothing was nothing more than a battered, broken mess. But her belief never wavered - despite her injuries and painful losses, she confounded the sceptics with her first win.   Not her usual dominant display at featherweight, this was a strategic, hard-fought battle where a single balt shot couldn't take down her 450 lb adversary. She turned it into a battle of attrition as she wore down her muscle-bound opponent with her relentless will to win, unending stamina and precision balt attacks.

Breakthrough

Her route to victory was apparent as she followed this template to go on a successful run of victories - A systematic breaking down of her larger opponents.   Instead of using the balt to aim for KO head blows, she shifted her target to snipe at her competitor's limbs - breaking down their chance to move efficiently. By the time they finally managed to get into attack range, their bodies were so battered and encumbered they couldn't land an effective blow on the faster, more agile Intisar.   Her Ko percentage fell as she focused on winning by tremors pushing her athletic prowess to the forefront as she won fight after fight. This continued until finally earned the right to go face-to-face with Grimlok the Grisly - the open-weight champion in 807AP.   A one-hour epic battle ensued that saw both competitors empty their essence tanks in a desperate bid for victory. Intisar took several meaty blows from the 800 lb Riktus warrior's fists, but despite breaking both her arms, fracturing several ribs and rupturing a kidney, she managed to score the 5th and final tremor to take the victory and shock the World of Lendor.   At the fight's conclusion, both combatants collapsed to the floor, requiring emergency services to help them back to their feet. It was later found out that Grimlok had shattered both his knees and torn a hamstring yet continued to fight on. Even the Riktus Queen - Alpha Ashaborn - known to punish any defeated Riktus, sent a congratulatory message to both competitors. Although Alpha Prodigalas, the Riktus king, had another punishment in mind.

Intisar would go on to defend the belt for over a year with several odds-defying victories. Every time, it was her tenacious technical performances and refusal to quit that earned the love of Imperial fans and the grudging admiration of the Riktus, who couldn't find a way to defeat her.

A new challenger arrives...

On her 7th defence, she was paired against the Riktus powerhouse known as Dreadnaught - a being who had accrued all his 24 victories in a total arena time of under a dozen minutes, including wins over the toughest ARL balters around. He smashed through Grimlok in less than 30 seconds - a barrage of fists that saw Grisly lose half his teeth and break six bones in his face.   Once again, Intisar was facing a being many times her own weight and again, the balter experts didn't rate her chances, predicting this was the fight her evasive luck would finally run out...   ...they were right.   Dreadnaught backed his terrifying reputation up by ko'ing Intisar the Invincible within one minute of the contest start. A blow so powerful she woke days later lying in a hospital bed, unsure how she'd got there. Doctors told her if she received another heavy head blow, it would shatter her already fractured skull. After several months of contemplation and guidance from Eravie, in 808AP, Intisar announced her retirement and thus ended the Invincible's stellar career.   Dreadnaught continued his decimation of every balter that attempted to take his belt. A wake of broken bones and shattered dreams in an 18-month reign of terror at the top of the ARL mountain.   Then he came face to face with the heavyweight Imperial Champion Soul Stealer. It was a match that would go down in the fighting annals as one of the most brutal battles ever, with a shocking conclusion that changed Lendorian history - but that's another story.   The brutal end to Intisar's Career, lying bloodied and defeated on the arena floor

Popularity and legacy:

Intisar was a hugely popular balter due to her unique fighting style that allowed her to win contests in various exciting ways. She would often predict the manner of her victory and then execute it precisely during a bout - Any rabs that bet on her predictions made essence coin fortunes.   She became known for her theatrical displays both when winning and losing, and just charging her Sorce powers became an awe-inspiring experience.   Her innovative style created an influx of snipers, around 805AP, that devoted themselves to mastering the snipe blade, but without access to Intisar's Aura abilities, they failed to perform at her level and disappeared into obscurity. It soon became apparent that proficiency in the sniper class required a highly specialised set of skills that only those with Air and Fire Auraes could achieve - An exceptionally rare combination.   Intisar charging her powers was something to behold, creating a dramatic spectacle for every battle she fought Nowadays, nearly four decades after Intisar first came to prominence, Athletes (63%) and Warriors (28%) are still the favoured class choice, with snipers (9%) only chosen by those with the relevant Aura gifts. However, recently, the development of power gloves that closely mimic Air powers (An Aurae notoriously difficult to replicate) has surfaced. This has allowed more balters the chance to experiment with the sniping class and perhaps a resurgence in its popularity.

Intisar today:

Intisar continues to run her own balter gym with her husband Eravie in Gete focusing on Fein and Imperial competitors. Despite several of her balters winning their respective race championship, none have won an ARL belt. All her interviews mention this is her ultimate aim and would eclipse anything she achieved in her own playing days.
