I’So Kitsune (EYE-S-OH K-EE-T-S-OO-N-AY)
Shogun of Clan Kitsune (a.k.a. The Merciful Angel)
Shogun I’So of Clan Kitsune was born on 31/10/38 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin). She comes from a line of Mandalorians on her mother Beda’s side. Beda was human and was born on the moon Concordia. I’So’s father I’Sha was Pantoran, who lived on the moon of the ice planet Orto Plutonia. Her favourite food is mac and cheese.
Her father had been involved as a nurse with the medical relief efforts during the Clone Wars and worked to help injured clones and other officers that were brought to Pandora. Alongside this, he raised a family and passed on his knowledge of aid and medicine to his twin daughters, I’So and I’Dona. Their mother on the other hand had a more complicated profession as a mercenary. Beda’s efforts to retrieve medical supplies along with serving the ‘cause of Mandalore’ led to entanglements with the notorious Mandalorian group Death Watch. Beda passed on what knowledge of Mandalore and its culture to her children, yearning for the day that those such as herself who had been exiled could one day return to see it again. In the confines of her new home on Pantora, Beda also taught them hand-to-hand combat when her husband was away helping the Republic, with it being difficult to teach her children how to use a blaster without giving away her double life to local authorities.
Fall of the Republic
At the time of the fall of the Republic, Beda was killed in a failed operation involving remnants of Death Watch near Concordia in a last stand against forces that had surrounded her homeworld. This left I’So as the next in line to inherit her mother’s armour, along with leadership of Clan Kitsune, which had previously been lead by Aurelia Kitsune before her demise at the end of the war along with her two siblings. This meant that the title of Shogun passed down from Aurelia to I'So by the time the Galactic Empire was formed on Coruscant. Back in a workshop in her family homestead on Pantora, I'So set to work repairing what was salvaged of the family beskar plating from the battle on Concordia, and she began restoring the paint work on the helmet along with a couple of her own additions as a tribute to Beda and a nod to her Pantoran heritage.
Realising that there was much to be done in order to retake Concordia from the hands of enemy forces, I’So set about travelling the galaxy from one end of it to the other, training her combat and medical skills in tandem during her journey over the course of almost a year. Doing odd repair jobs and contracted supply runs, she managed to accrue enough credits from a task on Geonosis to afford her own U-Wing starship.
Over the next few months, she hopped system to system whilst repairing it and collecting pieces of armour and machinery in doing so, accumulating the flight skills of a decent pilot and now tended to fill the role of a combat medic in the crews she wound up involved with. I’So resolved to use her abilities and the leftover resources of Death Watch to protect innocent civilians in the emerging Galactic Civil War, leaving her father and sister behind on Pantora for their own safety. Moving on from the grief of the loss of her mother along with the recent purge of the planet Mandalore by the new Empire, I’So sought to uphold Mandalorian ideals and challenge those that she saw as enemies of Mandalorians.
House Okami
It would be during these months that I’So would cross paths with the House of Okami. This came to pass after a series of skirmishes near the planet Umbara where I’So had been trying to lie low forced her to flee to the Concord Dawn System, a name made familiar to her during bedtime stories about the Mandalorian Civil Wars. Recent activity around the nearby planet of Krownest had drawn her attention over the next few days. After reaching out to those residing on the planet’s surface over a dying comms channel from her damaged ship, and later helping to patch some of the warriors up who were living there she was able to tell them about her lineage. I’So would later take the name Okami in pursuit of the return of her bloodline to Mandalore’s surface.
As it happens, the members of the House of Okami had made note of I’So’s recent handiwork after she had been scavenging nearby asteroids and outposts for parts to repair her U-Wing. She was adopted into the House of Okami and by sunrise she had painted the symbol onto her armour to mark the new chapter in her life that had just begun.
U-Wing Starfighter
I'So owns a slightly modified UT-60D U-Wing starfighter that she has fitted with a few alterations to meet her needs. Namely she has modified the space at the back of the cargo area in the centre of the fighter to allow for a bunk bed to be fitted in for when she is away from home or any accommodation, or if she needs to operate on a medical patient that has been badly injured. There are life support systems and medical equiptment located in containers located in the outer walls of the back of the ship.
