Overview
Hor'An Hal'ha means
those who deliver what others need in the speak of the
Lyranian. Basically they fulfill the job of a freighter, a deep space hauler, those who do the heavy lifting. They are the workers of the Lyranian fleet, of the economy. In contrast to the human organisation the Hor'An Hal'ha are all under planetary control.
Construction & Plans
The construction of each Hor'An Hal'ha, be it a small car-sized curier or the largest freighters which are so heavy that they can't land in any kind of atmosphere, is everytime the same.
There is a raw sun energy reactor in the middle of the ship, accompanied by some solar sails which collects energy in case of an emergency. On top of that sits the bridge, with a nearly 360 degree view. And on top of the bridge sits a flat energy-shield generator. Strong enough to deflect debris and small laser cannons, but not strong enough to withstand incoming fire longer than minutes.
Directly beneath the reactor segment comes the crew quarters and the cargo vault. Most freighters aren't armed, but some medium and heavy freighters have some kind of armament, mostly two twin-barrel laser-cannons.
Hauling stuff, Mothertrucker!
The cargo vault is protected by one layer of shock-absorption shields in case the freighter is taking fire or flying through debris or just solar storms. The cargo is to be protected at any costs, even when that means to fly automatically with no crew (for... whatever reasons).
Lyranian Cargo Haulers - or Lycans as humans call them (yes, we know they're no werewolves, ok?) - are a special kind of Lyranian. Well, they stand out in the mass only because they want to go in the void between the stars, being on their own, only connected with a few other crew members - even heavy freighters only need ten Lyranians to operate at maximum capacity - and the Mind Above All
An'han Ogh'An.
They love to listen to their traditional music, drinking things which is considered tea by humans, playing overly complicated card games and stare into the void. Sometimes the void stares back.
Stories from afar
"What am I looking at?"
"That? That is a Lycan."
The first officer blinked. "That doesn't look like a wolf to me."
Captain Till chuckled. "A Lyranian Cargo Hauler. Harmless, mostly. This one is uh... medium sized, mean laser-cannons at the front, but otherwise harmless."
"Two mean laser-cannons do not sound harmless to me, Sir."
"Eh, don't worry about that. Let him be and send them our regards and safe travels, their cargo checks out."
"Yes, Sir."
— Security Patrol after scanning a Lyranian Freighter
"Beautiful, isn't it?" purred the Nemeian, curled up in her captains seat.
"Depends on who you asking." grumbled the human at her side. "That is a lot of ships."
"Don't get rrrriled up, my dear. Those are just frrreighters." She stretched one of her arms, her sharp claws unsheathed for a few seconds.
"I'm not worried about those freighters. I'm worried about the possibility the Lyranian could have a fleet this size. How many are there?"
"Oh, do not worry, their fleets aren't usual this tiny." came the answer from the Nemeian pilot. "Only a few thousand."
"Only a few... how many warships are out there?"
"A few million maybe."
The human gulped. Good thing that they had their advantage over every race in terms of fleet. — Quote a curious human on a Nemeian observer
