Altemos
The Seat of Creation
The World Heart. The Feylands. Sometimes simply called "the West," many know it only as "home." The birthplace of both the Old Fey and the Feylasi, and later colonized by several factions of A'Tova, this massive expanse of land encompasses a huge variety of flora, fauna, and environs.
Geography
Along the West coast, the Stellos Sea laps against lush jungle that extends throughout the Sonovic Empire, which pushes up against the ice-capped peaks of the Veldon Mountains. As rivulets of glacial water flow down their rocky sides, forming streams that push east, the mountains give way to a vast savannah, all dry lands, wide trees, and extraordinary beasts. The land here is hard, making most regular crops impossible to grow, yet some inventive types still bend the savannah to their wills, through both mundane and magic means.
Soon, the savannah gives way to a vast ocean of sands. This is the Sula Desert, harsh and hostile, where water becomes as scarce as friendly faces. Beneath the dunes, though, lie vast deposits of mineral, crystal, and radioactive elements, richer than anywhere else on all Altemos.
Beyond the desert, past the towering forests on its easternmost side, we reach the rocky coastline of the Aldeva Sea at long last, waves crashing again knifelike boulders. The land here is hilly, but the soil is fertile, and farming here is extraordinarily productive.
In the north, spanning the length of Altemos, the land turns frigid and harsh. Lakes dot the tundra and temperate forests, like so many little blue stars if seen from space. Snowfall is brutal and regular, and at the northernmost rim, solid land gives way to massive glacial formations. Though still considered a frontier space in the 4th era, many nations have erected colonies there for decades, and many have begun to intermingle.
Off the southwest coast, the tall archipelago of Sol Feylaas extends for many dozens of miles into the Stellos Sea. Connected to the Lunodian Peninsula thousands of years ago, this was once the birthplace of the Feylasi and of civilization on Altemos. Now, the traditions and rituals of those long-dead ancestors still live on.
On the opposite, southeast coast, matters are far more dire. From the southernmost tip of the east coast, another island chain is born. It extends all the way from Altemos to Nistal, the western continent, separating the Aldeva and Sudeva Seas. At its median is the Gateway, whose uncertain borders welcome all who reject the Gods.
To the south, past the great Helfas Straight, lie the harsh, nigh-on untamed lands of Junqia, the southern continent. Home to tribal nomads and small warring kingdoms, it is most famous for the living wall which encompasses Minxolao land.
