Chu

Chus are blob-like creatures made entirely of a gel-like substance that is acidic to the touch. They are known for being ambush predators, clinging to ceilings then dropping down onto unsuspecting prey.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Chus lack any sort of skeletal structure, muscles, tissue, or organs, or (visible) nervous system.

Biological Traits

Two smaller chus can meld together to form one large chu. It is also possible for a larger chu to be bisected into two smaller chus by an external cutting element (such as a blade).   When a chu dies, its body rapidly changes from a gel-like substance to liquid, which evaporates within minutes.

Genetics and Reproduction

When a chu gets large enough, it reaches a point where it can no longer support its mass. It then reproduces, creating a new chu via budding.

Growth Rate & Stages

Chus grow in sizes proportional to the amount of food it consumes.

Ecology and Habitats

Chus are typically found in all kinds of environments, but tend to prefer areas that are not in direct sunlight, such as caves or under trees.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Chus can consume and dissolve organic materials, but tends to seek out fresh, nutrient-rich flesh.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Chus have no social structure, but for unknown reasons, several of them will often group together.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The jellies of chus' bodies are rumored to hold special properties, if harvested correctly.

Average Intelligence

Chus have no brain. It is disputed if they are even sentient.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Chus have a form of thermoception, thought it is not understood how it works. It is hypothesized that an outer film detects heat fluctuations.
Lifespan
Varies. Chus have been known to live as short as a few days to as long as several decades.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Chus come in a variety of colors. Purple is the common.
Scale compared to an average human
